Ben Fordham to host first NSW Leaders Debate live and local on 2GB

Sydney’s No.1 Breakfast host, Ben Fordham, will host the first Leaders’ Debate between Premier, Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader, Chris Minns, on 2GB this Thursday, 9th February.

The leaders will go head-to-head live in the 2GB studio from 7am, debating the biggest issues facing the people of New South Wales, before they head to the polls on Saturday, 25th March.

2GB Breakfast host, Ben Fordham, said: “This is the first opportunity to hear these two go head to head. It’s going to be live and unscripted and anything could happen. Each leader has been told to come armed with three questions they want answered from their opposite number. I won’t know what those questions are in advance of the live debate. With the election so close, they’ll both be dead keen to score an early victory.”

Luke Davis, 2GB Content Manager, said: “The upcoming state election is one of the most significant in recent history for the people of New South Wales, so it’s only fitting that the first public debate takes place on Sydney’s No.1 Breakfast show. With Ben Fordham moderating the debate, we can be assured it will be must-listen radio!”

You can listen live to the first NSW Leaders’ Debate on Thursday, 9th February from 7am on 2GB 873AM, streaming via the 2GB app, or watch live at 2gb.com

60 Minutes returns Sunday February 5 at 8.40pm on Channel 9 and 9Now

In 2023, the numbers keep getting better for Australia’s most iconic television program.

  • 60 MINUTES, Australia’s most watched weekly current affairs program, returns on Sunday with two unmissable stories.
  • 2023 marks the 45th consecutive season of the program.
  • 60 MINUTES remains the No. 1 weekly current affairs program across TOTAL TV in the key demographics (25-54 and 16-39).
  • 60 MINUTES is also the No. 1 news and current affairs program on 9Now (up 23% year-on-year).
  • YouTube success for the program includes 5.1 million subscribers and 1.8 billion story streams.
  • 60 MINUTES has also recorded substantial growth on Facebook (1.5 million followers, up 4%), Instagram (views up 68%), and TikTok (over 200,000 followers and 3.1 million content likes).

The 2023 season premiere of 60 MINUTES this Sunday at 8.40pm features two incredible stories.

In a world exclusive report, correspondent Tom Steinfort interviews four of the survivors of the Sea World helicopter tragedy. Their firsthand accounts of the terrifying crash reveal startling new information about the disaster from the lead-up to the collision, the catastrophic impact, and its frightening aftermath as their pilot fought to land his helicopter. Their recollections are supported by extraordinary video they shot inside their chopper, which now also provides air crash investigators with vital clues about the possible causes of this terrible accident.

The second story this Sunday is reported by Amelia Adams, the newest member of the 60 MINUTES team, who joins the program after a distinguished career travelling the world as a Nine News foreign correspondent.

For her debut story, Adams investigates what went wrong on the set of the movie Rust after a gun being handled by actor Alec Baldwin discharged. The weapon was supposed to be loaded with blank bullets, but unbelievably there was at least one live round in the gun’s chamber. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza wounded in the incident. This week Baldwin, along with the film’s armourer, was charged with involuntary manslaughter over the shooting.

Using body camera footage from emergency responders as well as other video taken on the day, Adams pieces together the harrowing timeline of a tragedy that should never have happened. Her report also includes an Australian exclusive interview with a member of the film crew who was on the set at the time, standing only a few metres away when the gun fired.

Kirsty Thomson, Executive Producer of 60 MINUTES, says: “Everyone here is thrilled to be back for the 45th season of the program and even more excited to be starting the year with such strong reporting of two very important stories.”

Thomson also paid tribute to 60 MINUTES viewers in Australia and around the world, saying: “We’re immensely proud we’ve been able to grow our audience, not only on free-to-air TV but also across other platforms.

“Our success is testament to the program’s unparalleled excellence in reporting, camerawork and editing. 60 MINUTES will continue to deliver video content that both introduces and deepens engagement with its traditional and online audiences.”

Under Investigation with Liz Hayes returns to uncover the missing pieces in shocking cold cases

Join Australia’s leading experts and investigators at the War Table where the country’s most baffling crimes are reopened and re-examined on Under Investigation with Liz Hayes.

Wednesday, February 8, at 9.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now marks the return of Nine’s flagship studio program when acclaimed investigative journalist Liz Hayes, together with new teams of criminal and forensic experts, puts eight captivating cold cases under the microscope. There’s fresh evidence, exclusive witnesses – and extraordinary revelations.

Under Investigation launches with an eerie outback mystery. Loving couple Ray and Jennie Kehlet join colleague Graham “Grumpy” Milne on a gold-prospecting trip to the red heart of Western Australia. Three people go out but only one comes back. Then a body is found in a remote mineshaft. With a senior member of the police investigative team joining our panel of UI experts, the case is laid open as never before.

UI will also examine the strange case of “Willi” Koeppen, Australia’s first celebrity TV chef, who disappeared without a trace in 1976. He owned one of Australia’s most celebrated restaurants, patronised by the rich and famous, from prime ministers to pop stars. With a real-life “Cluedo” cast of suspects our UI experts retrace Willi’s final hours and reach a shocking but inescapable conclusion.

The program also investigates a legal scandal without parallel in the Western world: the case of South Australia’s chief forensic officer, Dr Colin Manock, who for more than 30 years conducted thousands of autopsies and gave expert testimony in hundreds of cases without the key specialist qualification. Innocents were jailed, potential murderers went free – and as revealed by UI, senior members of South Australia’s criminal justice system knew the truth.

December 12, 2022 will forever be marked as one of the cruellest days in Australian history, when two young police officers attending a routine missing persons enquiry were ambushed and killed in cold blood on a remote Queensland property. The killers, radicalised online by crazed conspiracy theories, visited their murderous ideology in the real world. In the first major television analysis of this shocking crime, Under Investigation’s team examines what many say is the frightening new front of domestic terrorism.

Liz Hayes said: “I am grateful Under Investigation continues to attract the country’s most skilled criminal experts to dissect and decode both decade-old and recent unsolved crimes. A unique combination of new technology, people’s yearning desire to tell their truth, and our unwavering commitment to comprehensive analysis prove to be groundbreaking for these cases. Absolutely everything is up for investigation.”

Take your seat at the War Table when Under Investigation with Liz Hayes returns Wednesday, February 8, at 9.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

ACA welcomes Ally Langdon

Ally Langdon, one of Australia’s most fearless and respected journalists, will be behind the desk tonight when A Current Affair returns at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Australia’s No. 1 nightly public affairs program, which first aired on Channel 9 in 1971, is back for 2023 and will once again battle for the underdog, break big stories, feature agenda-setting interviews and undertake major investigations.

We will continue to get results for viewers when they have nowhere else to turn and provide information that makes a real difference in their lives.

This week you won’t want to miss the interview that brought Ally Langdon to tears. We’ll gain an emotional insight into one brave woman’s fight for survival at the hands of an ex. You’ll hear why she’s terrified he will strike again and learn of her campaign to protect her family and others. It comes after a shocking spate of fatal domestic violence attacks over Christmas and the New Year period.

A Current Affair goes on the front line with a police squad which has one of the most dangerous beats in Australia. Granted unprecedented access, our crew captures a dramatic game of hide and seek where one suspect is nabbed hiding under a couch.

And of course we’ll be featuring those classic ACA battles – the grandmothers fighting a serial pest, neighbours at war with homes built on top of each other, and Ally’s personal fight to help two pensioners battling for their financial survival.

Plus the celebs come out. Don’t miss our exclusive interviews with superstar Hugh Jackman and TV darling Delevene Delaney about her shock new role.

Fiona Dear, Executive Producer of A Current Affair, said: “The Current Affair team is excited to welcome Ally as our new host. And while we have a surprise new look, we’re still the same, listening to your stories and giving you the interviews that will get Australians talking. Bring on 2023.”

Australian Open 2023 broadcast schedule: day 14

The 2023 Australian Open will culminate in the Men’s Singles final between red-hot favourite Novak Djokovic and Greek underdog Stefanos Tsitsipas exclusive, live and free on Channel 9HD and 9Now from 6.30pm.

With the added incentive of taking the No.1 world ranking for the winner, both players aren’t lacking any motivation to claim the title

If fan favourite Tsitsipas can ride the wave of local support and pull off an upset he will be the youngest man to win at Melbourne Park since Djokovic in 2011.

Nine Wide World of Sports Tennis expert and current player, John Millman, said: “We’re not only watching one of the greatest tennis players but one of the greatest athletes of all-time in Novak Djokovic. His Aus Open campaign this year has been quite incredible to watch and he will be very hard to beat on his way to his 10th Australian Open title.”

“While Tsitsipas has improved his game and is at career best form, he will need to go to another level to provide any challenge to Djokovic. He needs to strike early to create scoreboard pressure in the opening sets and make the match longer to bring Novak’s hamstring issues into play.

“Tsitsipas’ big weapon is his forehand, and he also has a good serve, but what I think he will bring is a different style and variation than what Djokovic has faced this past week.”

Coverage will begin at 2.00pm with the Women’s Doubles final, before the Men’s singles from 6.30pm.

On Channel 9HD, the coverage is hosted by James Bracey with commentary from Jim Courier, Todd Woodbridge, Lleyton Hewitt, Jelena Dokic, Dylan Alcott, Casey Dellacqua, Sam Smith, Alicia Molik, Darren Cahill, John Millman and Peter Psaltis.
