Tracy Grimshaw to co-host groundbreaking new series

Can we stay younger longer? Can we beat the diseases that take away our joy for life and ultimately kill us? Can we push the boundaries of human longevity much further than we have so far? Could we even live forever? And most importantly, if we could, do we want to?

Drawing on Grimshaw’s investigative background from A Current Affair and Dr Coatsworth’s medical expertise, they combine journalistic finesse with medical acumen. Together, they meticulously uncover the intricacies of ageing, seeking to determine whether we can in fact rewind our biological clock.

The program will follow four pairs of everyday Australians as they undergo medically supervised trials and health interventions that may provide clues to help us live longer. Through them, we will understand what the future holds, but most importantly, what we can do for ourselves, our kids and even their kids, to lead better, healthier, longer lives. Some scientists believe the first person to live to 150 has already been born.

Tracy Grimshaw said: “This project was Nick Coatsworth’s idea and I’m really looking forward to working with him on it. I’m keen to explore exactly what a long life will look like.  While in honesty I really haven’t spent my life looking for the fountain of youth, I’m fascinated by how far people are taking that search, and how advanced medicine is becoming in that space. I’m a bit of a medical nerd so the research has been a pleasure.”

Dr Coatsworth said: “For centuries people have been captivated by the idea of living forever. I am extremely excited to be working with the highly respected Tracy Grimshaw on this new series. Together, we will follow eight everyday Australians as they positively shift the dial of their health and longevity.”

Do You Want to Live Forever? promises to challenge our perceptions of ageing and mortality. Join Tracy Grimshaw and Dr Nick Coatsworth on this extraordinary exploration when the series premieres later this year on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Do You Want to Live Forever? is produced by Lune Media, with executive producers David Galloway, Ashley Davies and Leonie Lowe.

60 MINUTES adds two new reporters in 2024

Award-winning investigative journalist Dimity Clancey and seasoned national and international news correspondent Adam Hegarty join Liz Hayes, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams on the program.

While Clancey and Hegarty will be new faces on 60 MINUTES, both are highly experienced and respected television reporters, who are already well-known to Channel 9 audiences.

After starting her career in regional New South Wales, Dimity Clancey moved to 9News Sydney in 2010, covering the all-consuming police and crime round. In 2016, she joined A Current Affair where her reputation for fearless reporting was further enhanced as she continued to break major stories, confront criminals and advocate for vulnerable Australians. A year later, Clancey’s work was recognised with a prestigious Walkley Award for her story detailing the chilling confessions of fugitive and murderer Malcolm Naden. In 2020, Clancey also received the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Nightly Current Affairs reporting.

60 MINUTES holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Australians, mine included,” said Clancey. “The opportunity to contribute to its legacy is a dream come true for me.

“What excites me is that the program’s consistent ability to foster meaningful conversations and drive positive change aligns with my passion for storytelling that matters.”

Adam Hegarty’s career in journalism began in newspapers before the lure of television took hold in 2013. Since then he has worked as a reporter, producer and writer in newsrooms around the world, including at SKY News (UK), Turkish Television and CCTV/CGTN in Beijing.

In 2018, he moved to 9News as a reporter, initially in Brisbane and then Melbourne, before receiving the call-up to 60 MINUTES

“Joining 60 MINUTES is a professional milestone and an absolute honour,” Hegarty said. “It’s the program every journalist aspires to be a part of, and I feel privileged to join its esteemed ranks.

“I’m looking forward to collaborating with some of Australia’s most celebrated journalists and contributing to the incredible team behind this powerhouse program. I’m ready to make my mark.”

Kirsty Thomson, Executive Producer of 60 MINUTES, said: “It’s wonderful to embark on a new year by welcoming Dimity and Adam to our line-up of reporters. They have an enormously exciting job ahead of them, and I have no doubt they’ll succeed in ensuring the program remains a cherished Sunday night tradition for millions of Australians.

“As the years unfold, our audience continues to grow, not only on traditional free-to-air television but also across the 9Network’s dynamic streaming and social media platforms. I look forward to seeing what everyone at 60 MINUTES can achieve in 2024, knowing our commitment is fuelled by an incredible energy and the unwavering drive the program has long been celebrated for.”

60 MINUTES returns to Channel 9 and 9Now on Sunday evenings from February 4.

Tory Maguire appointed Nine Managing Director – Publishing

Currently Executive Editor overseeing The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times and WAToday, Maguire is a highly-experienced editor and journalist. Since assuming the Executive Editor role in July 2021 she has led the transformation of the newsrooms of the mastheads and seen significant growth in all areas of her remit.

Under her leadership, the mastheads’ renowned public interest journalism has gone from strength to strength, with Maguire working closely with colleagues in Nine’s broadcast television division to ensure the stories Australians need to hear are available to the widest possible audience.

Maguire, who has previously held senior editorial roles at News Corp and The Huffington Post as well as National Editor at Nine’s metro mastheads, replaces James Chessell who recently announced his resignation.

Mike Sneesby, CEO of Nine, said today when announcing her appointment that Maguire is one of the key leaders at Nine.

“Tory is a great executive, who has overseen renewal in our metro mastheads and has made some tough and brave calls about public interest journalism. We welcome her to this role and look forward to her contribution to the success of our business,” said Sneesby.

Maguire: “The past two years running the metro mastheads has been the absolute highlight of my career and given me a close up view of the extraordinary work that goes into producing Australia’s best journalism. The opportunity to throw myself into growing the business behind that journalism is thrilling. Our mastheads are a vital player in Australian society as well as a thriving commercial operation and I am very optimistic about their future.”

A process is underway to appoint a new Executive Editor.

Brands acing the beginning of 2024 with a grand slam of opportunities

Nothing unites millions of Australians like sport, and with the Australian Open extended to a historic 15-day feast of the world’s best tennis, Nine will serve up the biggest marketing platform for brands to ace the start of 2024.

With Qantas Frequent Flyer and Uber unveiled as the major partners for this year’s Open, a line-up of some of Australia’s most recognised brands have signed on as sponsors, including APT Luxury Travel, Bunnings Warehouse, Bupa, Chemist Warehouse, Domain, Chubb Insurance, Google, Kia, Peters Ice Cream, Stan, McDonald’s and Visit Victoria, who will all leverage the full suite of Nine’s Summer of Tennis premium assets.

To further support Tennis Australia’s official group of partner brands, Nine will be showcasing the on-ground Melbourne Park activations for Ralph Lauren, Aperol, LifeSpace and Mastercard via its customised Extender level.

With more than 11.7 million Total TV viewers tuning into last year’s Australian Open, unleashing the marketing power of tennis is the ultimate platform for brands wanting to connect with Australians with the help of globally-renowned Wide World of Sports.

January marks the beginning of a massive year of sport that will take in all four Grand Slams, the NRL and NRLW, the men’s and women’s State of Origin series, the Olympics and Paralympics, the Gangwon Youth Winter Games, the UEFA Champions League final, Bledisloe Cup, US Masters and Australian Open Golf, the Doha long course swimming championships and the Brisbane Olympic swimming trials as well as a raft of other sporting events.

With brands leveraging off Nine’s unrivalled combined assets spanning Total Television, Publishing, Digital and Audio, Australia’s greatest sporting epic staged every January gives brands the advantage to ace the new year with an unparalleled audience.

For the first time, Google has joined the Summer of Tennis this year to launch their Google Pixel 8 Pro. Nine’s sophisticated approach to working with brands in the sporting arena draws on groundbreaking ways to tell a brand’s story in the most effective way possible, and there is no better way to show the power of tennis than with an integration showing never before captured vision courtside from the Pixel 8 Pro.

There will also be a disruptive TVC that takes the renowned element of silence in tennis to demonstrate the new phone’s audio editing feature.

Meanwhile, Visit Victoria shows the state is ‘every bit different’ with a series of disruptive TVCs putting iconic Victorian sights on the court. Visit Vic will also present a highly anticipated brand new edition of Andy Lee’s The Hundred at The AO.

This year will see Nine’s on-ground studio, Court 9, relocate to an exciting new location in between Rod Laver and Grand Slam oval. This new location centres Nine in the heart of Melbourne Park central to tens of thousands of fans as they explore the festival of Tennis that is the AO.

From a special edition of Tennis, Brought To You By Good Weekend magazine, and special 9Podcasts to content on WWOS.com.au and seamless brand integration throughout the broadcast, partners have an entire ecosystem to reach Nine’s 20 million signed in users.

“Nine’s Summer of Tennis engages with millions of Australians, culminating in the pinnacle and world’s best grand slam, the Australian Open. Starting for the first time on a Sunday, the AO continues to provide brands the ultimate launch platform to start their year and environment to engage with fans. We are thrilled to see our returning partners and the addition of new brands capitalising on our exclusive platform as we head into Nine’s biggest year of sport,” said Matt Granger, Nine’s Director of Sales – Sport, Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Nine’s Director of Content Partnerships – Sport, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Anne Gruber, said: “Nine’s 2024 Summer of Tennis will be an intrigue-loaded event for Aussie audiences and brand partners. If history tells us anything, it’s that there’s always another outstanding generation to redefine the game, delivering an even more exciting competition to watch, with a dynamic mix of creative, young players challenging the status quo. That generation is here and they are dominating now. We can’t wait to see records broken this year!”
