Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 11 schedule highlights

It’s all to play for as Team Australia battles to keep their campaigns alive with quarter finals highlighting Day 11 of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, live on the 9Network and 9Now.

Leading the action, the Boomers take on Serbia and their star power of Nikola Jokic in the men’s basketball, before the Stingers face Greece in the women’s water polo, culminating with the Aussie women’s beach volleyball duo of Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy taking on Switzerland in a showdown underneath the Eiffel Tower.

Teenage hopefuls, 14 year old and 2024 X Games champion Arisa Trew, alongside 15 year old Ruby Trew take over the skatepark in the women’s park event.

Melissa Wu, in her fifth Olympic Games appearance dives for the chance to clinch her first ever gold medal in the women’s 10m platform alongside Ellie Cole, with Kurtis Mathews aiming for a place on the podium in the men’s 3m springboard.

At the velodrome, the Australian men’s and women’s get ready to ride in the thrilling team pursuits, whilst on the track, Olympic debutant Reece Holder races for a spot in the men’s 400m final, and Oceana Mackenzie will fight with grit and determination to make it up the wall in the women’s bouldering event of sport climbing.

Andrew Gaze Boomers preview ahead of Paris 2024 men’s basketball finals

It’s win or bust for the Boomers when the Men’s Basketball finals begin on Day 11 at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, live and free on the 9Network and 9Now.

Five time Olympian, former Australian Team flag bearer and dual NBA and NBL champion, Andrew Gaze, previews the Boomers crucial match up with Serbia, on a day when the world’s best basketballers take to the court across four quarter finals.

9Network basketball expert, Andrew Gaze, said: “With the greatest player in the world, Nikola Jokic, at their disposal, Serbia presents a huge challenge for the Boomers to overcome in the quarter finals.” Said Gaze,

“We managed to beat Serbia in the lead up games, however they were minus another one of their attack weapons sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic, who dropped 30 points in their last game.

“Jokic’s diverse skill set presents threats in every area of the court, so it’s crucial that we defend him as a collective, which is easier said than done.

“Despite their NBA superstars, the Boomers have shown enough in this tournament to be competitive regardless of what the scoreboard has reflected in their two group game losses. The international basketball community regards Australia as one of the most talented teams at the Olympics and for good reason.

“It’s been more so poor execution with offence that has led to our issues with conceding points, and it was a slow start against Greece last start that cost us in the end.

“Jock Landale has a big night ahead of him in the paint, but we can’t fall into the trap of focusing too much on one area, or Serbia will make us pay on the scoreboard. We have the talent to win but it will be a total team effort.

“I know Patty Mills will have everyone fired up, and we won’t be taking a backward step. This is going to be a very interesting game.”

Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 10 schedule highlights

Noemie Fox in the Women’s Kayak cross, Diving’s Melissa Wu begins her charge for a golden breakthrough and Australia’s very best at the velodrome will head up Day 10 of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, live and free on the 9Network and 9Now.

Holding Aussie hopes of more medals is Matt Denny (Discus) and Nina Kennedy (Pole Vault) who will step onto Stade de France for their first day of Athletics competition.

Diving legend Melissa Wu, who made her Olympic debut at Beijing 2008, will jockey for her first gold medal In the Women’s 10m Platform, alongside Ellie Cole.

Noemie Fox will aim to add to the Fox family medal tally in the Women’s Kayak Cross finals. She’s joined by fellow Aussie medal contenders Tim Anderson and Tristan Carter, who will attack the Men’s Kayak Cross finals.

It’s win or go home for the Hockeyroos when they face China in the Quarter Finals.

Get ready to ride when the sprint cycling action gets underway at the velodrome. Our Australian track cycling team will roll out with strong chances in the Men’s Team Pursuit and Sprint qualifying.

Sport Climbing features with the speed and bouldering events. In Speed Climbing athletes will climb side-by-side up a 15-metre wall, racing for time. In Bouldering, athletes are presented with multiple walls and must reach the finish point of as many of them as possible within the time allotted.

Then slam dunk day 10 away with the gold medal games for the 3×3 Basketball.

Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 9 schedule highlights

Australia’s golden rush continues as we head into Day 9 of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, live and free on the 9Network and 9Now.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it, the pinnacle event of the Athletics, the fastest man in the world will be crowned in the Men’s 100m Final. Looking to book their spot in the great race will be reigning world champion, USA’s Noah Lyles, alongside Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville of Jamaica. Tokyo 2020 gold medalist, Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs, will be fighting to defend his title, and if he does he will only be the third to join the elite club alongside the greats of Usain Bolt and Carl Lewis.

Australia’s hopes in the Women’s High Jump Final rest with Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson.

Australia’s fastest woman Torrie Lewis will lead the day session of the Athletics when she makes her Olympic Games debut in Round 1 of the Women’s 200m alongside Mia Gross.

It’s the final day in the pool, and a relay duel will cap off one of the most successful swimming campaigns for an Australian Dolphins team ever, when our Men’s & Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay teams and Women’s 50m Freestyle sprinters fight hard. Our women’s team are the defending champions and have not missed a medal in this event since 1992.

The final round of Men’s Golf tees off with Australia’s Jason Day and Min Woo Lee in a field of some of the best golfers in the world including Jon Rahm (Spain), Xander Schauffele (USA), Rory McIlroy (Ireland) and Tommy Fleetwood (Great Britain).

Also featuring on Day 9, Australia’s best female cyclists, Grace Brown, Ruby Roseman-Gannon and Lauretta Hanson, compete for a place on the podium in the Women’s Road Race. The Opals go head-to-head against host nation France in the Women’s Basketball, the Stingers take on Hungary in the Women’s Water Polo, and the Kookaburras battle to keep their Paris 2024 campaign alive facing Netherlands in the Quarter-Final of the Men’s Hockey.

Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 8 schedule highlights

The flying mullet, Rohan Browning, will take to the track when the fastest men and women in the world lead a Super Saturday of Sport on Day 8 of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Browning will fire out of the blocks in Round 1 of the Men’s 100m sprint, alongside reigning world champion Noah Lyles (USA) and the fastest man this year Kishane Thompson (Jamaica).

In the night session, get ready to cheer on Bree Masters, who is the first Australian in 24 years to qualify for the Olympic 100m semi-finals, featuring alongside Sha’Carri Richardson (USA) and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica).

Out to strike more gold in Paris will be our leading Women in the water, when Arnie and Lani – Ariarne Titmus, Lani Pallister (800m freestyle) and Kaylee McKeown (200m Individual Medley) make a splash at the swimming. Jess Fox is joined by her sister Noemie for the Women’s Kayak Cross. And at the regatta, our Rowsellas Women’s Eight and Tara Rigney will race to hold our first Rowing gold for Paris 2024.

The voice of cycling, Phil Liggett, and Tour de France champion Cadel Evans will call the action in the Men’s Road Race, plus Lebron James and his superstar Team USA Men’s Basketball side take on Puerto Rico.

While at their most famous sites, we get a double chance to beat France. Our Men’s Beach Volleyball team are looking to crash the party underneath the Eiffel Tower, and our Women’s 3×3 Basketball aim to follow suit at La Concorde.

It’s time to relocate to Phillip Island

The Block, Australia’s favourite renovation show, celebrates 20 seasons this year in picturesque Phillip Island and premieres on Monday, August 12, at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Five fresh duos will walk into an abandoned resort and transform it into five luxury family holiday homes, once again designed by longtime Block architect Julian Brenchley.

For the first time in Block history, one of our teams will grow in size when Haydn – one half of our Melbourne team – welcomes a beautiful baby girl in the first week of filming. Plus, will the pressure of this exacting build become too much for some?

The postcard backdrop of Phillip Island is the perfect location to celebrate this milestone season, and The Block will be showcasing all the Island has to offer, including the famous Penguin Parade, local attractions and the bustling retail sector.

Host Scott Cam is back for a remarkable 18th season and he’ll be joined by co-host Shelley Craft in her 17th season with The Block.

Plus, Dan Reilly now takes on the role as sole foreman, and real estate director Marty Fox joins Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer for the all-important weekly room judging. Longtime foreman Keith Schleiger and veteran judge Neale Whitaker are stepping back from their duties this season, but both will be making special guest appearances during the show.

Australians fall in love with Paris 2024 as viewing records smashed

Paris is the city of love for Australian viewers, with the first week of Nine’s broadcast of the Olympic Games delivering Total Television reach of 17.5 million, the highest weekly reach in VOZ history.

As Team Australia experiences a gold rush from the pool and the rapids to the BMX track and tennis court, viewers have flocked to round-the-clock coverage on Channel 9, 9Gem and 9Now.

Since the Opening Ceremony on July 27, the Olympics has contributed to a daily average National Total TV Reach of 10.5 million viewers across Channel 9, 9Gem and 9Now.

The Olympics to date (July 24 – August 3) has reached 17.5 million people across Total TV Nationally, with Paris 2024 particularly resonating with Australians aged 16-39. This demo has busted media myths and confirmed that under 40s turn to live broadcast, live streaming and on demand television for unifying cultural moments. Only FTA television does this.

The first week of the Olympics saw 9Now attract the highest daily share in VOZ history in the key demo of People 16-39, and a weekly National Total TV Reach for this demographic of over 4.8 million. In the crucial demographic of People 25-54, more than 7.3 million have tuned into Nine’s coverage this week [Sunday 28 July – Saturday 3 August].

From Sunday 28 July – Saturday, August 3, Broadcast Television has reached a National TV audience of 15 million, the highest ever weekly reach for Nine.

Australians have embraced 9Now like never before. With more than 40 Live streams, on demand and live streaming of Channel 9 and 9Gem, the platform has 17% incremental reach with 2.6 million viewers solely watching the Olympics via 9Now.

Michael Stephenson, Nine’s Chief Sales Officer, said: “Paris 2024 is the streaming Olympics and it is the most addressable media event we have ever seen.”

“More importantly, the Olympic Games have proven what most people already know – the power of Total Television. The first week of the Games saw 9Now record the highest weekly reach against all broadcasters in VOZ history, reaching more than 6 million Australians [Sunday 28 July – Saturday 3 August].

The 40 live streams on 9Now have reached over 4.1 million people throughout the Olympic Games, with the most popular sports Basketball, Swimming and Equestrian. Almost 7.5 million total people were reached nationally in July on 9Now – the highest monthly BVOD reach against commercial broadcasters in VOZ history – with nearly 1 in 3 people aged 16-39 in Australia reached (29.8%).

Overall, the highest rating session of the week was on Day 2, with the Night Session attracting a National Total TV Reach of 5.741m and a National Average Audience of 2.332m. This session featured Mollie O’Callaghan and Ariarne Titmus qualifying for the semi-finals of the Women’s 200m Freestyle.

Nine’s broadcast of Paris 2024 has captivated viewers, as our athletes unite the nation. All up, Australian commercial broadcasters achieved the highest weekly Total TV reach in VOZ history last week, reaching 19.2 million Australians.

Legendary cycling commentator Phil Liggett announces he has commentated his final Olympics

The world’s most authoritative voice of cycling, Phil Liggett, has announced he has called his last Olympic Games during an interview with Eddie McGuire.

Known affectionately as the ‘Voice of Cycling’ Liggett has been a mainstay of Olympic cycling commentary, with Paris being his 17th Games.

Liggett – who turns 81-years-old the same day as the Closing Ceremony – called his final Olympic event Sunday in Paris with the Women’s Road Race. While he may have commentated on his final Games, retirement isn’t on the cards quite just yet.

Olympic Games Paris 2024: Day 7 schedule highlights

Nearing the halfway mark of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 as Australia’s gold rush continues, we head into a mammoth slate of sports on Day 7, live and free on the 9Network and 9Now.

The race is on as the Athletics Track and Field officially gets underway with its opening day at Stade de France. Competing in the first five events in the Men’s Decathlon is Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Ashley Moloney, in the Women’s High Jump Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Nicola Olyslagers will be looking to one-up her best in Paris alongside fellow Aussie Eleanor Patterson, as well as round one of the Women’s 100m with Ella Connolly and Bree Masters.

From the track over to the pool, the action doesn’t stop, with gold medalist and Queen of the Backstroke Kaylee McKeown looking toward her next event, the 200m Individual Medley. All eyes will also be on the 800m Freestyle with gold medalist Ariarne Titmus joining forces in this event against Lani Pallister.

In the rowing, Annabelle McIntyre and Jessica Morrison will be fighting for redemption and a place on the podium in the Women’s Pair Final, after missing out on a medal in this event in Tokyo 2020.

It’s a family affair as the Fox sisters take over the water both competing in the new Olympic discipline of Kayak Cross in the Canoe Slalom. After already securing two gold medals, Jess Fox will be looking to pull off the ultimate feat of a treble, alongside her sister Noemie Fox who is making her Olympic Games debut.

In the team sports, the Boomers face Greece for their next game, the Kookaburras take on India in the Men’s Hockey and the Stingers are up against Canada in the Women’s Water Polo.

NRLW set to dazzle as women’s sport takes centre stage

As women’s sports takes centre stage in Nine’s exclusive coverage of the Paris Olympics, the NRLW promises an exhilarating weekend of top-tier action for the Harvey Norman Women In League Round, with every game live and free on the 9Network.

It starts on Saturday from 11.00am with the defending premiers, Newcastle Knights, playing their first home game at GIO Stadium, against the Canberra Raiders. Both teams are brimming with confidence: Knights hooker Olivia Higgins has scored three tries in her last four games, while Raiders winger Madison Bartlett has four from her past three home games.

Next up, at 12.30pm, the Gold Coast Titans meet the Wests Tigers, aiming to extend the Tigers’ losing streak in Queensland.

For a full preview of the weekend games, the Westpac NRLW Wrap from 10.30am on Saturday morning, with Emma Lawrence, Ruan Sims, Allana Ferguson and Marlee Silva, will bring viewers all the latest news in the women’s game.

Then in triple-treat Sunday, Allianz Stadium will host a big double-header: Eels v Sharks, both first-round victors, followed by Roosters v Broncos, both chasing their first win of the season.

The weekend concludes with the third Sunday arvo game: the Cowboys at home to the Dragons in Townsville. The Cowboys need to bounce back after conceding 128 points in their last three home games. For the Dragons, fullback Teagan Berry will be out to add to her tally of 14 tries in her last 12 NRLW appearances.
