2GB is Sydney’s definitive No.1 in total radio and streaming, posting a 12.4 radio share (up 1.3) and 24.0 commercial streaming share, in Gfk Survey 7 released today.

Ben Fordham Live recorded 16.2 radio share in Breakfast – the biggest increase in market with 2.0 – and was No.1 in streaming, with a commercial share of 34.0. 

Ray Hadley remains the undisputed king of Mornings with his 153rd consecutive survey win, with a 15.2 radio share (up 1.5), and was also No.1 in streaming with a 30.1 commercial share.

Increases were also recorded across the board in Afternoons, Drive, Nights and Weekends. 

2GB Content Manager, Luke Davis, said: “Today’s results show that Sydney is increasingly turning to 2GB as their go-to destination for news, opinion, sport, entertainment and traffic. This survey, we’ve seen audience growth across Breakfast, Mornings, Afternoons, Drive, Nights, Overnights and Weekends, proving that listeners are choosing to have 2GB as part of their daily routine, whether they’re at home, in the car, or out and about, streaming via the 2GB app.”

Further results from Gfk Survey 7 in Sydney: 

• Afternoons with Deborah Knight recorded a share of 6.7 (up 0.9) (Mon-Fri 12-3pm). 
• Drive with Chris O’Keefe recorded a share of 7.6 (up 0.8)  (Mon-Fri 3-6pm).
• Money News with Scott Haywood recorded a share of 8.5 (Mon-Thurs 7-8pm).
• Nights with John Stanley remains the clear No.1 with a share of 25.0 (up 2.6) (Mon-Thurs 8pm-12am).   
• Weekends with Michael McLaren is No.1 across both Saturday and Sunday, with an overall share of 12.9 (up 0.4) (Sat-Sun 9am-1pm).
• The Continuous Call Team (CCT) is the clear No.1 in NRL coverage across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

TOTAL RADIO 

2GB and 3AW are the undisputed No.1 stations in Sydney and Melbourne, with a share of 12.4 and 13.5 respectively in Gfk Survey 7. 4BC has recorded the biggest jump in Brisbane – with increases across all key shifts. 

In Sydney, Breakfast at 2GB with Ben Fordham Live recorded 16.2, and the biggest  increase in market with 2.0. Ray Hadley remarkably notched up his 153rd consecutive survey win, with a 15.2 share in Mornings (up 1.5). 

3AW’s Ross and Russ remain the outright No.1 in Melbourne Breakfast, posting 19.6, and legendary broadcaster Neil Mitchell was also No.1 in Mornings with 15.5.  

4BC’s refreshed live and local lineup is climbing in the ratings with the station posting a 7.4 share – its biggest increase of the year – and seeing increases across all key shifts. 

Nine Radio’s Head of Content, Greg Byrnes, said: “It’s a great survey across the board with a number of record results. Once again, 2 million Australians are tuning in to our radio stations each week, with Sydney’s 2GB and Melbourne’s 3AW the clear number one in their markets.”

Ross and Russ recorded a 52.1 commercial streaming share in Breakfast at 3AW, and Ben Fordham was also No.1 in Breakfast at 2GB with a commercial streaming share of 34.0.

The Ben Fordham Live podcast jumped seven places in the Australian Podcast ranker, to #25, reaching 178K listeners in October (+69% YoY). Nine Radio continues to climb the ranker with several catch up podcasts in the Top 150, including Ben Fordham Live, Mornings with Neil Mitchell, The Ray Hadley Morning Show, 3AW Breakfast with Ross and Russ, Wide World of Sports, 3AW Drive with Tom Elliott and 2GB Drive with Chris O’Keefe.

Australia’s fight to win the ICC Cricket World Cup goes up a notch when they take on South Africa in a do-or-die semi-final, live and free from India on Channel 9HD and 9Now tomorrow night at 7.00pm.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia into battle in the second semi-final on Nine’s Wide World of Sports from Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with a place in the final on the line. 

Australia will go on the attack with batsmen Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner, and a bowling attack featuring Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and spinner Adam Zampa, the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.  

Nine’s commentary is hosted by Roz Kelly, with expert comments from former Australian captain Mark Taylor.

Mark Taylor said: “Australia versus South Africa sees two very similar teams going head to head for a spot in the World Cup final.

As well as firsthand accounts from the investigators, we hear from the families involved, plus journalists and authors who have closely followed these cases.

The wondrous world of wildlife will be captured once again when Taronga: Who’s Who In The Zoo returns for its fabulous fourth season on Wednesday, November 22, at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. 

This spectacular series will be voiced by new narrator, Australian actress, writer and director Virginia Gay, and centre on the antics of the unique residents at two of Australia’s renowned zoos: Taronga Zoo in Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. 

In this award-winning observational documentary series, the doors are once again reopened, offering extraordinary access to the amazing work of the keepers, vets, scientists, conservationists and support staff as they go through the ups and downs that come with running one of the world’s most famous zoos. 

Viewers will see that when it comes to caring for their animals, nothing is too much trouble for the keepers. From building a bachelor pad for a harassed squirrel monkey to safely teaching a fur seal pup to swim, it’s all in a day’s work. 

But there are times when it’s a full team effort. Giraffe Jimiyu requires the biggest team ever assembled of vets, nurses, keepers, specialists, and backyard crew to ensure he makes it through a dangerous general anaesthetic procedure. And with the vision of working to ensure a shared future for wildlife and people, we go into the field with Taronga’s conservationists and see the opening of the latest jewel in Taronga’s crown, an exclusive native animal habitat called Nura Diya Australia. 

The welfare of the wildlife remains front and centre in this entertaining, revealing and heartwarming new season of Australia’s captivating zoo life.

Accomplished journalist and broadcaster Deborah Knight will be taking on a new role across Nine’s radio stations as the national host of Money News, commencing in 2024.

With more than 30 years’ experience in radio and television news, Deb has interviewed some of Australia’s most powerful political figures during her time in the Canberra Press Gallery and covered breaking global stories, including the September 11 terrorist attacks, re-election of George W Bush, and the Iraq War as a foreign correspondent.

Following her successful role as Sydney’s Ten News at Five Bulletin, Deb joined the 9Network in 2011 and has shown her versatility as a reporter and presenter across a range of programs, including Sydney’s 6pm News, Today and Weekend Today, and A Current Affair, which she continues to host each Saturday evening. 

In addition to these prestigious news and current affairs roles, Deb was also the founding presenter and reporter for Financial Review Sunday, where she further honed her experience in the economic, business and financial fields.

On her new role, Deb said: “It has been a joy to host 2GB’s Afternoons over the past four years and I’m thrilled to be staying within the Nine Radio family, taking on a broader role and a new challenge as national host of Money News.

Nine is the home of Origin, with Women’s State of Origin exclusive to the 9Network from 2024 in a new landmark broadcast deal for women’s rugby league announced today, Monday, November 13.

Joining the men’s series, Women’s State of Origin will be played over three games for the first time in history, with every Origin fixture exclusive, live and free on the 9Network until 2027.

The 2024 Women’s Origin series will begin during prime time on Thursday night, May 16 ahead of Magic Round, with games two and three to be played on Thursday nights following the opening two men’s games. 

Doubling down on a commitment to the growth of the NRLW, Nine’s Wide World of Sports will showcase every game of the 2024 NRLW competition live and free on the widest-reaching platform in the country. 

Every Origin and NRLW game will be available for free to stream anywhere and anytime on 9Now.

Hosted by Australian actress Lisa McCune, who has a passion for DIY gardening, and renowned garden landscaper Dave Franklin (along with resident pooch Robin), this series follows everyday homeowners, renters and unit dwellers on their journey to make their garden shine. 

Always aspirational and achievable, every makeover featured will be carried out by the occupants themselves as they hustle to turn a tired space into a green oasis. Expect real-life mess, chaos, and plenty of laughs as these passionate home gardeners take their vision from Pinterest to real-life perfection.

Each pair of occupants will be provided with the necessary supplies to tackle their ambitious designs, in return for their passion and effort to spruce up their garden.

Narrated by Australian actor, Hollywood star and animal lover Jai Courtney, this special docu-series sheds light on the harsh realities faced by animals while introducing viewers to the unsung heroes who have turned their love of pets into a way of life.

From the tireless efforts of RSPCA Queensland’s animal carers, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming thousands of cats and dogs each year, to the Queensland Veterinary Specialists and Pet Emergency team with their expertise for pets facing life-threatening injuries and diseases, the series sheds light on the profound impact of our connection with pets.

Viewers will fall in love with pets like Bruno, the one-year-old white Husky whose life took a bad turn after being hit by a car, leaving him with bruised lungs, and Bonnie, the endearing Staffy who steals the spotlight upon her return to the RSPCA after five years, bringing not only extra love but a few extra kilos. Plus Benny, the precious pup who brought solace to a widow but now finds himself at the heart of a bittersweet rehoming decision, and a resilient four-month-old stray cat battling neglect and facing the possibility of a leg amputation.

Australian music’s biggest night of the year, the 2023 ARIA Awards will light up our screens for its 37th edition of its annual awards night, with a special presentation on Channel 9 and 9Now, Wednesday, November 15 at 7.30pm. 

From Sydney’s famous music venue, The Hordern Pavilion, the awards will be hosted by 9Network’s own Brooke Boney alongside comedian and radio host Tommy Little. In a celebration of the year that was in Australian music, showcasing and honouring the incredible talents of the best in our home grown music community. 

The awards will feature exclusive performances from some of Australia’s best and this year’s nominees, including G Flip, Budjerah, DMA’S, Brad Cox, Fanny Lumsden, Jessica Mauboy, Meg Mac and Peach PRC. 

Celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop in Australia, there will also be a special performance presentation by Bliss n Eso, Barkaa, 1200 Techniques, DJ Krissy and Sound Unlimited Posse featuring Kye. 

Additionally, 2023’s ARIA Hall of Fame inductees, Jet, will perform a medley of their iconic songs to close out the awards ceremony.
