In Thursday Night Footy, the Melbourne Storm, already minor premiers, meet the Cowboys in Townsville. Coach Craig Bellamy has rested a stack of key players but will still field a formidable team led by superstars Cameron Munster and Ryan Papenhuyzen. For the playoff-bound Cowboys, prolific tryscorer Kyle Feldt makes his last home-ground appearance and Valentine Holmes marks his 200th NRL game.

Friday Night Footy pits the triple premiers, the Panthers, against the struggling Rabbitohs. With Nathan Cleary still out through injury, Jarome Luai and Brad Schneider will lead the Panthers attack. Cody Walker, just two tries short of his 100th, returns to partner Jack Wighton in the halves for the Rabbitohs.

Wide World of Sports will be live for this game from Bluebet Stadium, led by Danika Mason alongside Allana Ferguson, with comments from Johnathan ThurstonPhil Gould and Andrew JohnsMat Thompson will call the game, while Emma Lawrence and Brad Fittler provide sideline updates.

Saturday Night Footy sees the razor-toothed Sharks set to strengthen their top-four position against the Warriors. It’s the final game for Warriors legend Shaun Johnson, while Sharks skipper Cameron McInnes celebrates his 200th NRL appearance.

Round 26 wraps up with Sunday Arvo Footy at Allianz Stadium, crunch time for the Raiders who must beat the Roosters to stay alive in the finals race. The Raiders need the power game of prop Joseph Tapine and the kicking game of halfback Jamal Fogarty to offset a red-hot Rosters attack bolstered by the return of Connor Watson and Brandon Smith.

Brands nail viewer engagement as The Block yet again proves to be a Total TV success story

The insights found audiences of The Block in 2023 were two times as likely to regard sponsored brands as ‘the only brand I would consider’.

Lisa Day, Director of Powered, said The Block provides a premium platform for brands to reach audiences at scale and driving action for its sponsors.

“The effectiveness results are consistently above industry averages across consecutive years,” said Day. “For the past two seasons, sponsors of The Block achieved a 6% uplift in consideration and 17% uplift in sponsorship awareness on average. It’s why our sponsors keep coming back year after year – McCafé has an 11-year association with the show; ten years for Domain and an incredible 17 seasons for Mitre 10.”

The Block Cast 2024 Jesse and Paige, Courtney and Grant, Ricky and Haydn, Kylie and Brad, Kristian and Mimi (3).jpg.jpg

Hosted by Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, The Block provides a premium platform for brands that can leverage Nine’s unrivalled Total TV, Total Audio and Total Publishing assets to achieve reach at scale, and is one of the most consistently successful programs on Australian screens.

Filmed in Victoria’s picturesque Phillip Island, the new series features five new couples who are transforming the rundown properties into luxury family holiday homes, and features some of the biggest brands in Australia.

A group of diverse brands return this year as major partners including Amazon, Arnott’s, Aldi, BlueScope Steel, CommBank, Disney+, Domain, Engie, Ford, hipages, McCafé, Mitre 10, Youi, Xero.

Sarah Stewart, Powered’s Director of Content Partnerships and Client Experience, said The Block is one of Australia’s great television success stories that can provide a safe premium environment for brands.

“We have had learnings of nearly two decades of The Block screening on what works and how to keep evolving the partnerships and integration. The Block – which was initially underestimated by brands – now sets the gold standard in how formats can keep on delivering for audiences and clients. The learnings from The Block have also helped us turn Married at First Sight into a format that is growing into Australia’s next brand success story.”

The Block continues Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Then there’s her father Bear (Steve Bisley – Doctor DoctorMystery Road Origin), a retired detective full of unwanted advice, who she relies on for childcare and moral support.

As Holly and her team race to catch the killers, can she also win back the trust of the people she loves?

Human Error was created by Greg Haddrick (Underbelly, Janet King) and Samantha Winston (Love Me, Rush). The series is a Roadshow Rough Diamond production for the 9Network, with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Nine and VicScreen. 3AW continues its unbroken run as Melbourne’s No.1

Every week, the station’s engaging blend of live, locally-focused talk radio attracts a cumulative audience of 767,000 listeners across Melbourne – up by more than 40,000 listeners on Survey 4.

Ross and Russ maintain their stronghold on Melbourne’s breakfast radio scene with an impressive 21.7 share – up 2.1 points on Survey 4 and more than double their closest competitor. Moreover, the pair claimed a whopping 53% of the commercial streaming audience.

In just his fifth survey in the mornings slot, Tom Elliott has firmly established himself as Melbourne’s No. 1, achieving a leading 18.4 share (up 2.7 points on Survey 4). Tom added an additional 99,000 listeners since the previous survey and now boasts a cumulative audience of 530,000. He also secured a top commercial streaming share of 38%.

Tony Moclair is the No.1 Afternoon talk program with a share of 10.1 – more than double his nearest talk competitor.

Jacqui Felgate is once again Melbourne’s No. 1 drive talk program with an 8.5 share – up 0.1 on Survey 4 and her third successive survey share growth. Jacqui added an additional 34,000 listeners since the previous survey and now has a cumulative audience of 319,000.

Denis Walter remains the leading evening program in Melbourne, boasting a 19.5 share – 7.3 points ahead of his nearest competitor.

Stephen Beers, 3AW Station Manager, said: “Survey 5 once again confirms 3AW as Melbourne’s top radio choice. From Ross and Russ leading the way in breakfast, the only program in double figures – adding number two and three together and you still don’t catch them. Tom Elliott’s continued strength in mornings, and Jacqui Felgate’s growing success in the drive shift, the results are a testament to the hard work of our on-air and behind-the-scenes teams. We thank our loyal listeners for their outstanding support and eagerly anticipate delivering all the Paralympic excitement to them in the coming weeks.”

US Open tennis 2024 live and free on the 9Network

Over 14 days, the cream of the crop will battle it out on the hardcourts of Flushing Meadows in New York, with the tournament broadcast live and free on 9Go!HD and 9Now, and every match available to stream ad-free, live and on demand on Stan Sport, with centre court available in 4K UHD.

Jelena Dokic, Georgie Parker and Brett Phillips will provide expert commentary for Nine’s Wide World of Sports coverage each day of play, while 9News will cover all the action as the big stories develop.

In the men’s singles,Carlos Alcaraz (World No.3), Novak Djokovic (World No.2) and Jannik Sinner (World No.1) are ready to lock horns for the final Grand Slam title of the year.

For Alcaraz, a US Open title would cap an all-time season, making it his third major of the year. Alcaraz and 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal winner Djokovic have been dominant performers of the past two Grand Slam seasons, each claiming three major titles, two US Open crowns among them.

The lone unclaimed Grand Slam tournament over that span, this year’s Australian Open, went to Sinner. 2020 US Open finalist Alexander Zverev (World No.4) and 2021 champion and two-time runner-up Daniil Medvedev (World No.5) loom as legitimate contenders for this year’s title, and plenty of potential spoilers could threaten in the men’s draw. Among them are the American quintet of Taylor FritzSebastian KordaTommy PaulBen Shelton and Frances Tiafoe.

Flying the Aussie flag will be World No. 10 Alex De Minaur, returning after being sidelined for a month with a hip injury, plus Alexei Popyrin and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Jelena Dokic said: “Alex, I would usually say, has a great chance to at least get to the last eight, especially on hardcourt which suits his game. But the injury that has kept him off the court since Wimbledon is a big factor, especially with hardcourts and his reliance on movement and fitness. The draw will be key for Alex, if he can get a match or two to play himself in.

“Let’s not forget Popyrin and his Masters 1000 win in Canada. He will now be seeded at the US Open. He has a big game, big serve and forehand, and I look forward to seeing what he can do in New York on the fast hardcourts.”

The women’s singles title is wide open in a field featuring World No.1 Iga Świątek, looking to add a hardcourt major to her trophy cabinet. World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and American favourite Coco Guaff (World No.3) are also among the fancied contenders.

After her loss in the Wimbledon finals, Italian Jasmine Paolini (World No.5) will make a return to the hardcourts, with Elena Rybakina (World No.4) also a major threat.

This year eight Australians will compete in the women’s singles, making it our biggest representation at the US Open since 1989. They are Daria Saville, Aijla TomljanovicTaylah Preston, Ariana RodionovaMaya JointKimberely BirrellDestanee Aiava and Priscilla Hon.

Jelena Dokic said: “I am looking forward to all the Aussies playing, and hopefully Ajla can make a good run too. She is always dangerous, especially if she can get a few matches under her belt.

“It’s an incredibly open tournament this year for both men and women. I think there will be surprises and upsets and there are quite a few players with an opportunity to win.”

Crunch time in the race for top 8

In Friday Night Footy, the Brisbane Broncos are on the razor’s edge, with stars Reece WalshPayne Haas and Ezra Mam sidelined by injury. Tristan Sailor comes in at fullback and Selwyn Cobbo returns to the wing for a Suncorp Stadium showdown with the Parramatta Eels.

The Eels, led by Mr 100 Per Cent Effort, Clint Gutherson, are out of finals contention but hungry to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon. They’ll be counting on dynamic Blaize Talagi to keep up his impressive scoring form, with 11 tries in 12 games.

After leading the coverage of Australia’s most successful Olympic Games campaign in Paris, James Bracey returns to host the Wide World of Sports broadcast. He’ll be joined by Johnathan ThurstonPaul Vautin and Cameron SmithDanika Mason and Darren Lockyer will report from the sidelines, with Peter Psaltis in commentary.

On Saturday Night Footy, the Rabbitohs face the Knights, who must win to have a sliver of a chance of making the top eight. The Rabbitohs need plenty of support for hooker Damian Cook, who has been their best player of late. For the Knights, Jack Cogger returns at five-eighth.

On Sunday Arvo Footy, the Dragons – who last made the finals in 2018 – aim to cap their last game at WIN Stadium with a win over the high-flying Sharks, who are clinging onto a top four berth.

For the Dragons, tough forward Raymond Faitala-Mariner returns to the bench and the new Ben Hunt-Jack Bird halves combination offers dangerous potency. Cronulla get a host of players back, including Braydon TrindallKayal Iro and Tom Hazelton.

Round 25 kicks off with a tough Thursday Night Footy test for the battling Tigers against the classy Sea Eagles, captained by a red-hot Daly Cherry-Evans who has scored in their last 11 encounters. The Tigers, facing a third consecutive wooden spoon, need crafty hooker Apisai Koroisau on song to have any hope of springing an upset.
