More Than Ten Million Viewers Tune Into The Second Ashes Test

A total of 10,037,396 Australians tuned in throughout the five days of Nine’s broadcast of the Second Ashes Test between Australia and England.

Across the five metropolitan capital cities, the cumulative reach across the five days (ie: the total number of individuals who watched any part of any day’s play) was 7.183 million, representing 42 per cent of the metropolitan population.

In regional Australia, the cumulative reach across the five days was 2.854 million, representing 37 per cent of the regional population.

The Second Test saw the locals defeat England yesterday by 120 runs on day five, in what was the first ever day-night Test in the history of The Ashes.

The highest rating session across the five days of play at Adelaide Oval was the third session on Day Two (Sunday, December 3), which secured a peak audience of 2.437 million viewers, with an average of 2.144 million viewers.

Each of the third sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.705 million across the four sessions (Saturday to Tuesday).

Each of the second sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.499 million across the four sessions (Saturday to Tuesday).

Each of the first sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.037 million across the five sessions (Saturday to Wednesday).
