Almost 15 Million Viewers Tune Into The 2017-2018 Magellan Ashes Series
A total of 14,792,550 unique viewers across Australia tuned into the five Tests of The 2017-2018 Magellan Ashes Series.
8,434,826 Australians tuned in throughout the five days of Nine’s broadcast of the Fifth Ashes Test between Australia and England at the SCG in Sydney.
Across the five metropolitan capital cities, the cumulative reach across the five days of the Fifth Test (ie: the total number of individuals who watched any part of any day’s play) was 5.963 million, representing 35 per cent of the metropolitan population.
In regional Australia, the cumulative reach across the five days was 2.472 million, representing 32 per cent of the regional population.
The final Test in Sydney saw an Australian team exert their dominance, winning with an innings to spare as the England side faltered under extreme temperature.
The highest rating session across the five days of play at the SCG was the third session of play on Day Four (Sunday, January 7), which secured a peak audience of 2.338 million viewers, with an average of 1.860 million viewers, as Australia had England on the ropes.
Each of the third sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.565 million across the four sessions (Thursday to Sunday).
Each of the second sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.249 million across the four sessions (Thursday to Monday).
Each of the first sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.017 million across the five sessions (Thursday to Monday).
