9Honey Launches New Podcast: Failing Fabulously
Successful women share their spectacular faceplants.
Online women’s network 9Honey has launched a new podcast, hosted by Shelly Horton, called Failing Fabulously, which features some of Australia’s most high-profile women, sharing their personal stories of failure and how they bounced back.
“I’m a Type A personality and that also means I’m a perfectionist and I worry excessively. So when I fail, which I do often, I fall to pieces or face first into a tub of ice cream,” said Horton.
Horton has launched the podcast to help get over her fear of failing, convinced that some of Australia’s most high-profile women also want to share their personal and professional fails so that everyone can learn how to bounce back.
Nine Digital Editorial Director, Kerri Elstub, said: “The results are hilarious and insightful. Women in particular seem to place a stigma on failing, whereas men tend to see it as a stepping stone to success. Why?”
Those profiled include TV host and comedian Julia Morris, who shares a professional stuff-up that cost her a lucrative commercial contract, and the queen of daytime TV, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, who explains why she doesn’t believe in failure.
60 Minutes reporter and co-host of Weekend Today, Allison Langdon, shares a parenting fail that will make all mums feel a little bit better about themselves.
The series also features Jessica Rowe, Natasha Exelby, Samantha Wills, Rosie Waterland and Deborah Knight.
“I’ve chatted to some of Australia’s most successful women about moments in their lives where they’ve come an absolute cropper, and rather than pull the doona over their head and never come out again they recovered with style. I want to know how?” said Horton.
Throughout the 12-part series, psychologist Dr Tim Sharp, aka Dr Happy, provides expert commentary. “Failure is a part of life. Even though we feel imperfect at times, what we often
don’t realise is that everyone else feels the same way. Just understanding that can make it so much easier to live a good life,” he says.
New episodes of Failing Fabulously will be released every Wednesday at 6.00am for 12 weeks, available for free on 9Honey.com.au, iTunes or any podcast app.
