Notorious backpacker murderer Ivan Milat died yesterday in Sydney’s Long Bay prison hospital aged 74.
Tonight at 9.45pm on Nine and 9Now, Ivan Milat: Killer in the Forest will lay bare the absolute evil of Australia’s worst serial killer.
Narrated by Peter Overton, the Nine News special will explore how Milat butchered seven backpackers in the Belanglo State Forest, what it took to catch him, and whether he committed even more murders.
We hear from Milat’s relatives, his victims’ families, those who miraculously escaped his clutches and the people who brought him to justice.
Featuring interviews never seen before, combined with Nine’s extensive library footage, Ivan Milat: Killer in the Forest will tell the full story of the monster who in 1996 was sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences for his horrific crimes.
Fresh interviews include Clive Small (former assistant police commissioner who led the task force which caught Milat), the parents of British victim Caroline Clarke, brother of slain Victorian woman Deborah Everist, Nine Crime Editor Simon Bouda and Milat’s brother, George.
