Mitch & Tina win Love Island Australia 2021
After a rollercoaster six weeks with incredible moments of love, laughter, and a river of tears, Mitch & Tina have been announced as the winners of Love Island Australia 2021.
Voted by the Australian public as their favourite couple, host Sophie Monk revealed the pair won the nation’s hearts over fellow grand finalists Chris & Zoe and Jess & Aaron.
But in the world of Love Island, the path to love is never easy. Once our new Love Island king and queen were crowned, they were each given an envelope – one containing $50,000 and nothing in the other. Tina’s envelope had $50,000 meaning she had the choice to either split the money or take it for herself, thereby proving if she was in it for money and not love. She chose love.
“I did not expect to meet someone so special or to make it through to the finale – and with a boyfriend! But our connection was instant and I’m grateful for the journey we’ve share. I can’t wait for our future together and I’m very very thankful to the Australian public for believing in us.”
Mitch, 25, from Melbourne, says: “I’d never thought walking into the villa that I’d find someone like Tina. I’ve come out of this amazing experience with my first girlfriend and have grown into a better version of myself. We’ve laughed, cried, and made great memories along the way – to win the show on top of that is huge!
Host Sophie Monk said “There have been so many beautiful and hilarious moments this season including heartfelt tears, many three-way hugs between the boys, and some of the best bombshells we’ve ever seen. All of our Islanders have done a fantastic job and I’ve honestly had the best time watching on.”
The couple’s path to love hasn’t been the smoothest with a love triangle turning Mitch’s head early in their journey together. However, Mitch came to his senses choosing Tina and they coupled up once again. The temptations of the Casa Amor shake-up only solidified their bond to stick together and shortly after Mitch asked Tina to be his first girlfriend.
Premiering on October 11 on Channel 9 and 9Now and filmed in a luxury villa in Byron Bay, the four night-a-week series has once again been the show that breaks the mould for TV viewing, with episode one now up to 862,000 viewers across linear TV, live stream or On Demand on 9Now – a 108% uplift on overnight.
Love Island Australia is produced by ITV Studios Australia for Channel 9 with assistance from the Screen NSW Made In NSW Fund.
