Grant and Taylor Win Love Island Australia 2018

They have been at the centre of worldwide headlines for six weeks, and now electrician Grant Crapp and beauty queen Tayla Damir have been announced as the winners of Love Island Australia 2018.

With their win determined solely by viewers voting for their favourite couple through the Love Island Australia App, host Sophie Monk revealed the pair won the hearts of a nation over Eden and Erin, and Josh and Amelia.

But in the world of Love Island, the path to love is never clear-cut. Once the couple were announced as winners, they were each given an envelope – one containing $50,000 and nothing in the other. Tayla’s envelope had $50,000 and had the choice to either split the money or take it for herself, thereby proving she was in it for money and not love. She chose love.

“Coming into this experience, we had no expectations but the show has exceeded everything we have ever imagined,” says Tayla, 21, from Perth.

Grant, from Canberra, says: “We will forever be grateful that Australia believed in our love and voted for us to win the first ever season of Love Island Australia.”

The couple’s path to love has been rocky, with Grant making global headlines after dumping Cassidy for Tayla, and then a having a physical altercation with Eden.

Premiering on May 27 on 9Go! and 9Now and filmed in a luxury villa in Mallorca, Spain, with a 24-hour turnaround, the five night-a-week series has thrilled viewers as the sexiest cast ever seen on Australian television strategize and vie for love.

Viewers can continue having an abs-olutely fun time, by watching the new series of Love Island UK on 9Now.
