Australia Looking To Remain Undefeated In Final Ashes Test
With the drawn Boxing Day Test proving there is still a lot on the line, Australia look to remain undefeated as they head into the fifth and final Test in the Magellan Ashes 2017-18 Series starting in Sydney tomorrow.
After well over 250,000 fans attended the five days of play in Melbourne, sellout crowds and great weather are expected for a Sydney Test at the SCG where anything could happen, with an England team now high on confidence and an Australian side determined to end the series undefeated.
Legendary commentator Bill Lawry will again join Nine’s broadcast team, calling the big moments in the way only he can in his 40th year of commentary.
Australian captain Steve Smith’s red-hot form continues, along with opener David Warner, after their match-saving centuries in the Melbourne Test. Smith will be looking to cement his position as the world’s best batsman in the Ashes finale.
Key strike bowler Mitchell Starc is also a good chance to return for Australia, after his searing pace was sorely missed against a tough England side on a challenging pitch in the Fourth Test.
The star of the Fourth Test was undoubtedly England’s Alastair Cook with his unbeaten 244, which put England in control before rain put a stop to the tight contest. He and captain Joe Root will be hoping to bring their Melbourne form to the SCG to give England their first win in the series.
The Sydney Test will go to air from 9.30am AEDT each day between January 4 and January 8.
