The Financial Review remains Australia’s most read business masthead
The Australian Financial Review is the country’s most read premium business masthead, growing its readership to 3.5 million across print and digital, according to Total News readership figures released by Roy Morgan today.
Readership of Australia’s first national newspaper – which celebrated its 70th anniversary this year – has hit a new high, increasing 7% year-on-year and 4% quarterly. The Financial Review is now read by 3.504 million people across print and digital in the 12 months to September 2021.
As trusted business news and analysis becomes more important than ever, the Financial Review continues to grow its premium subscriptions, attracting high net worth and influential readers.
AFR Magazine is Australia’s most read monthly magazine insert, recording double digit yearly growth of 80% and quarter-on-quarter growth of 8%, with a print readership of 452,000.
AFR Weekend Edition has increased 5% year-on-year in its print readership, attracting 137,000 people each weekend.
The Total News readership figures show Nine’s mastheads and digital platforms had an unduplicated audience of 12.581 million*.
“The continued growth of the Financial Review’s readership to a new high is a terrific achievement for a premium subscription masthead, underlining the demand for credible news sources in a world of misinformation,” said the masthead’s editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury.
“AFR Magazine’s exceptional growth reflects the outstanding work of editor Matthew Drummond and his team and the powerhouse attraction of themed editions such as the Financial Review Rich List and Power List.”
This is the second release of Total News readership figures produced by Roy Morgan for ThinkNewsBrands.
