Queensland’s credentials as Australia’s new sporting and events capital will be showcased in The Sporting Bubble, a special documentary coming soon on Nine.

The program, commissioned by Nine in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, will provide a no-holds-barred look at five of the nation’s elite sporting codes now calling Queensland home.

Produced by Dickson Films, the documentary features interviews and behind-the-scenes insights with the NRL, the AFL, the Super Netball competition and the Supercars championship, as well as boxing’s super welterweight fight between Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu in Townsville.

Director Peter Dickson, of Dickson Films, said: “For me and my team this is such a unique and important story to document. The cultural importance of sport to our nation cannot be underestimated and the global pandemic has been devastating for sport in Australia during 2020.

“This film will track the journey of our major sporting codes sent a lifeline via the Queensland hubs, which has been absolutely crucial in getting our favourite sports up and running again.”

The Sporting Bubble is produced by Dickson Films for Nine in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland.
