Pedestrian Group’s Disney + drive-in returns for a second season after sell-out success
After an insanely successful debut season in 2020 – one that saw more than 1500+ sign up to a waitlist across Sydney and Melbourne – Pedestrian Group is thrilled to announce the return of Disney+ Drive-In in 2021.
The event will once again park itself at Melbourne Showgrounds from February 23 before heading to Sydney in April, and then moving onto Queensland in May. The dates and venue for Sydney and Queensland will be announced shortly.
The Melbourne program, announced today, is a departure from family-focused content of the first Disney+ Drive-In to coincide with the launch of Star – Disney+’s new general entertainment content brand – in Australia on February 23.
Punters can expect an exciting variety of films such as Deadpool, Jojo Rabbit, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, Die Hard, Predator and Braveheart along with cult classics including Titanic, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, Pretty Woman and many more.
James McManus, Creative Director of Pedestrian Group, says: “Pedestrian Group’s audiences can’t get enough of what we call ‘new nostalgia’: that dopamine hit from revisiting the pop culture of your teen years. Openair Cinemas’ second Disney+ Drive-In tour is set to sell out as we return to popular locales along the east coast with a diversified programme.”
Rachel Tikey, Commercial Director of Pedestrian Group, says: “The continuation of Disney+ Drive-In is a testament to the success of the truly standout ‘IRL’ brand experiences that Pedestrian Group creates and we are delighted to have our partners Disney+ and Doordash onboard for this second iteration of Disney+ Drive-In.”
DoorDash has come on board as an exclusive food delivery partner, so ticket holders can satisfy their cravings by ordering their favourite cuisine straight to the comfort of their car.
Tickets for the Melbourne location, along with the full line-up, are now available to purchase for $45 per car on the official website, openaircinemas.com.au/drive-in, with Sydney and Queensland on sale soon.
