NRL Footy Show Raises $570,000 In Record Breaking Starlight Telethon
The NRL Footy Show raised over $570,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation last night in its fifth annual Big Change for Little Champions Telethon – surpassing last year’s record.
In a huge response from the rugby league community, sick kids and their families across the country were given a helping hand with a range of large and generous donations streaming in once the phone lines opened.
Paul “Fatty” Vautin, Erin Molan, Darryl “The Big Marn” Brohman and Beau Ryan started proceedings in the studio along with Allana Ferguson and Parramatta Eels star, Clint Gutherson.
Meanwhile in the Oxipay Call Centre, Australian Ninja Warrior host Ben Fordham and Nine NRL’s James Bracey joined as special guest hosts, with a great line-up of guests manning the donation lines, including Sticks and Wombat plus Clint and Hannah from The Block, Cronulla Sharks players Paul Gallen and Chris Heighington, Super Netball stars Kim Green and Paige Hadley, Australian Ninja Warrior’s Stephanie Magiros, Scott Evennett, Jenna Douros and Ryan Roberts, and rugby league legends Wayne Pearce and Steve Mortimer.
The NRL Footy Show has now raised over $2.5 million in five years of the Big Change for Little Champions Telethon. Last night’s final donation tally will be announced on the Grand Final Footy Show on Thursday, September 28, with a sizeable contribution still to come from show partner, Sportsbet.
