MARLEE SILVA JOINS NINE’S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS
Ahead of a landmark season for the NRLW with the most games played in the competition’s history, players from all 10 clubs were on hand with Nine’s Wide World of Sports to celebrate every game being available to watch for free on the widest reaching platform in the country.
The 11-week season sees four new teams joining the NRLW competition from the Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, North Queensland Cowboys and Wests Tigers.
The new Queensland teams, the Titans and Cowboys, start the season in a triple-header of NRLW games that will feature the reigning premiers, the Knights, at home to the Dragons, and the star-studded heavyweight club battle of Broncos v Roosters.
Nine’s commentary lineup for the 2023 NRLW season will feature former Jillaroos Ruan Sims and Allana Ferguson, hosts Emma Lawrence, Danika Mason and newcomer Marlee Silva, plus Roosters captain Millie Boyle, along with support from the entire Wide World of Sports rugby league team.
Speaking at Nine’s NRLW season launch, reigning premiership-winning captain Millie Boyle said: “I’m so excited for the 2023 season because the expanded schedule, the four new clubs and every game available for free has provided a platform to take the NRLW to the next level.”
“Every club has made significant changes to their rosters, so form guides from last year go out the window. It’s going to be a very closely contested season.
“The women’s game continues to grow, so we hope we can put on a great show and inspire the next generation of NRLW stars to follow in our footsteps.” In an action-packed season draw, the NRLW broadcast schedule will feature four Saturday triple-headers, regular Sunday double-headers leading into NRL Sunday Footy, three prime-time games on Channel 9HD, and two stand-alone Thursday night games during the 2023 NRL finals series.
From the first week of August there will be nine weekly free-to-air games across the NRL and NRLW, with women’s fixtures leading into men’s games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Matching its commitment on the field, Wide World of Sports will broadcast a dedicated women’s rugby league show on Channel 9 and 9Now titled NRLW Wrap, plus a weekly NRLW podcast with Sims and Silva titled NRLW Weekly. Every NRLW game will be available to stream anywhere at any time on 9Now.
