Blockheads come face to face at Grand Final Auction

Dreams will be made and lingering questions answered when five incredible family homes go under the hammer at The Block Fans v Faves Grand Finale Auction, Sunday, November 7, at 7 O’block on Channel 9 and 9Now.

The spectacle will be the first time our Blockheads – Faves Ronnie and Georgia (WA), Mitch and Mark (NSW), and Fans Tanya and Vito (Vic), Josh and Luke (NSW) and Kirsty and Jesse (NSW) – are in the same room after a tumultuous season dogged by the infamous photo cheating scandal, which we are yet to get to the bottom of.

The Block host Scott Cam said he hopes the cheating scandal will finally be put to bed as the person who took the photo is revealed.

“This has been by far the most heated season of The Block that I’ve ever worked on, and I’m not just talking about the Melbourne property market.

“Auction day will be the first time our Blockheads come face to face since finishing their builds, and there are still plenty of unanswered questions about who took the photo.

“All the Blockheads have worked so hard this year to build five completely different three and four-bedroom family homes, so we’re really gunning for them to come home strong and win a life-changing amount of money. But as we know, anything can happen on auction day – it’s completely out of our control.”

Melbourne’s property market will spring back to life as The Block Fans v Faves Grand Finale Auction marks one of the first weekends of large-scale auctions in Melbourne, following a 79-day hiatus.[1]

Domain property expert, Alice Stolz, said: “The Melbourne property market has been in a slumber during the latest lockdown. The city has been starved of listings, but with restrictions now easing we are expecting the market to roar back to life.

“Auction day is set to be a massive test for the contestants this year, with over 900 auctions scheduled across the city. Buyers are desperate to purchase and settle before year end and sellers are champing at the bit to send properties to market now lockdowns are over. It’s a potent combination that could fuel some incredible results.”

The all-important auction order and reserve prices will also be revealed. With Ronnie and Georgia winning the most room reveals (five), they have earned the power to decide the auction order that could make or break the other Blockheads’ fortunes.

It could have serious repercussions for who is crowned the winners of The Block Fans v Faves, who take home a $100,000 prize on top of whatever profit their home makes above reserve on auction day.

Since premiering on Channel Nine in 2003, The Block, Australia’s richest reality program, has awarded a total of $26,499,503 in prizemoney across 16 seasons.
