RECORD-BREAKING TOTALS RAISED FOR CHARITY

Rugby league legend Benji Marshall was tonight awarded the title of Celebrity Apprentice 2022, defeating Darren McMullen in the finale of Celebrity Apprentice Australia.

Both contestants went toe to toe showcasing their skills, wit, and network of contacts in an unforgettable finale as well as raising record-breaking totals throughout the season.

Marshall held a kids concert at Leichhardt Oval with The Wiggles and other acts, inspiring kids to “dream big”, while McMullen took a different approach by hosting a magical extravaganza auction night on Cockatoo Island for his charity, Feel The Magic.

Throughout the season, Darren McMullen raised a record-breaking grand total of more than $552,000 for Feel The Magic, the only charity in Australia providing support and grief education programs for kids aged up to the age of 17 who have lost a parent, guardian, or sibling.

In the first episode, he also spearheaded a project that raised the most money in Celebrity Apprentice Australia history, $600,000. He then allowed his fellow celebrity project manager, Turia Pitt, to keep her share of it ($235,000) for her charity, Interplast Australia.

However, the winner of Celebrity Apprentice Australia came down to who raised the most money in the last challenge. With Darren raising $152,000 and Benji raising over $300,000, it was Benji who nailed it and took out the title.

Benji’s overall fundraising total of $487,000 will help Souths Cares, a charity built upon the Rabbitohs’ long and proud history of supporting disadvantaged, marginalised and indigenous youth and families, with a specific focus on education, training, health and employment.

Benji said: “I’m so happy to have been able to raise such a great amount of money for Souths Cares. It will go a long way to supporting the youth and communities in Redfern and contributing to the outstanding work of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which is something very close to my heart.

“This has been a life-changing experience, and Darren was a deserving finalist. Becoming very close friends, I’m glad he and I, as well as all the other celebrities, were able to do so much to support our chosen charities.”

All celebrities are commended for their efforts throughout the season in raising money for their respective charities.

Celebrity Apprentice Australia was produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia for the 9Network, based on the format created by United Artists Media Group distributed by MGM International Television Distribution Inc.
