Nine today announced the appointment of Bronte Gildea as the new Sport Presenter of 9News Queensland.

Gildea, who has spent most of her television career at the 9Network, showed her passion for sports journalism from day one, and quickly rose to become the 9 Gold Coast News sports presenter.

A versatile talent across all codes, Gildea has also hosted the 9Network’s premier NRLW coverage throughout the 2026 season and become a familiar face across Nine’s NRL and tennis coverage.

9News Queensland is the state’s top rated and most trusted news service, and this appointment strengthens the team.

Bronte Gildea said: “I’m excited and honoured to be joining the 9News Queensland desk as a more permanent fixture. Queenslanders are fiercely passionate about their sport, and as someone who lives and breathes it every day, it’s an enthusiasm I share deeply. “From local grassroots competitions to every major code, having the opportunity to cover the big stories, capture the moments that matter, and connect with our viewers every night is a privilege not to be taken for granted.”

Director of News, Queensland, Brendan Hockings, said “We are delighted to welcome Bronte to the 9News Queensland desk on a permanent basis. Her enthusiasm, meticulous dedication and connection to local sport make her an ideal fit for this critical role. “I have every confidence that Bronte will continue to produce the high-impact sports coverage our loyal viewers rely on night after night.”

Bronte Gildea will take over the Monday to Friday 9News Queensland 6pm sports desk in 2027.
