Australia is addicted to Married at First Sight
Episode 6 hits 2 million viewers in Total TV and is Australia’s undisputed No.1 series
Australians have once again fallen in love with Married at First Sight, the undisputed No.1 series on television in 2022, leading the 9Network to its strongest start ever in a calendar year*.
Now into its fourth week of season nine, Married at First Sight has delivered huge audiences, with episode six (Monday, February 7) viewed by 2.02 million people, and several more episodes closing in on two million viewers in terms of Total TV audience (BVOD and time-shifted viewing figures included).
Married at First Sight has dominated overnight linear viewing in the all-important key demographics of 25-54s, 16-39s and GS + Child, as well as Total People. The first 10 episodes are showing significant uplift on their overnight audience (in some cases between 50%-80%) once BVOD and time-shifted viewing figures are included**.
In Total TV numbers, Married at First Sight is up Year-on-Year***, with most episodes showing percentage growth of viewers according to official BVOD and 7-day time-shifted figures. This figure is likely to continue to grow in the weeks to come as the show moves into the later stages of the social experiment, including dinner parties, home visits and commitment ceremonies designed to test the couples’ compatibility.
“Married At First Sight is again the undisputed leader in Australian entertainment,” said Hamish Turner, Director of 9Now and Programming. “We are seeing significant audience growth across both Live and VOD viewing, demonstrating the power of our Total TV proposition. Total Audience acceleration is driven by the growth in consumption on connected televisions.”
