From an adventurer who knows no limits to a woman who thrives on food waste, My Way takes viewers into the lives of inspiring Australians this Saturday at 12pm on Nine.

Narrator Tim Blackwell introduces Ryan Siacci, a Queenslander dedicated to adventure travel and rock climbing. Ryan thrives on doing things differently. After leaving the army to become a mountain guide he worked in the ice fields of Chile, the Alaskan alps, and the famous Picos de Europa mountain range in northern Spain. He also does the popular climbing blog, Zen and the Art of Climbing, and is a journalist for Wild, an online adventure travel magazine.

Then we meet Dylan O’Donnell, lover of all things astronomy and astrophotography. His work, featured by NASA and the European Space Agency, is derived from fascination in what he uncovers in his photographs. His passion for the universe extends to building his very own observatory in his Byron Bay backyard.

The Gold Coast is home to Women’s Surf and Coffee, a group of women from students to professionals and retirees with the same love of the water, coffee and friendly catch-ups. There are no group rules, just an opportunity for everyone to feel free and enjoy themselves and, with a bit of luck, to catch a wave together.

With 795,000 tonnes of food wasted each year in Australia, Michelle Mascher, who was brought up with a no-waste rule on the family farm, devised a simple plan to combat the problem: turn all the “ugly” fruit into chutney, preserves and jam. Now, five years later, Ugly Duck Fine Foods is Michelle’s way of making the world a better place, one fruit at a time.
