BEST EVER SURVEY 3 FOR NINE'S TALK RADIO STATIONS

Nine’s talk radio stations have recorded their best ever Survey 3 result, with 1.92 million listeners tuning in each week across 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR – up 10% year-on-year.

The results are spearheaded by Sydney’s 2GB and Melbourne’s 3AW, cementing their position as the most listened to radio stations in Australia’s two biggest cities.

GfK Survey 3 of 2022 shows 2GB posted a winning share of 13 while 3AW achieved a 14.7 share of People 10+.

In the 25-54 demographic, Nine’s radio stations have boosted their audience by 8%.

Greg Byrnes, Nine Radio’s Head of Content, said: “After our best start to the year we’ve attracted even more listeners in this survey period. The year-on-year result is impressive given 2GB is up over 21%, 4BC 15% and 3AW almost 10%. In Sydney, Ben Fordham and Ray Hadley are well up on last year. While in Melbourne, Ross and Russ and Neil Mitchell have managed to hold the massive numbers who tune in each morning. We’re committed to delivering the nation’s best live and local news and opinion and thank our listeners for their loyalty.”

2GB 873 continues as Sydney’s No. 1 with an audience share of 13. This is 2GB’s 141st consecutive survey win. 2GB has increased its cumulative audience by 21.3% when compared to survey 3 of 2021. Each week, 753,000 people tune into Sydney’s No. 1 station.

  • Ben Fordham Live continues as Sydney’s No.1 breakfast show with a share of 15.7.
  • The Ray Hadley Morning Show retains its unbroken run as No. 1 morning show with a share of 16.5 (up 0.7). This is Ray’s 141st consecutive survey win.
  • Afternoons with Deborah Knight is the No. 1 afternoon talk show with a share of 9.2 (12.00pm-3.00pm).
  • Drive with Jim Wilson is the No. 1 drive talk show with a share of 7.2 (Mon-Fri 3.00pm-6.00pm).
  • Money News with Brooke Corte posted a share of 7.2 (Mon-Thurs 7-8pm).
  • Nights with John Stanley is a runaway No. 1 in his timeslot with a share of 19.7 (Mon-Thurs 8.00pm-12am).
  • 2GB Weekends is No. 1 with a share of 13.5.

3AW remains No. 1 across Breakfast, Mornings, Nights and Weekends. The station is the No. 1 radio station in Melbourne recording an audience share of 14.7 in Survey 3. 3AW has boosted its cumulative audience by 9.5% when compared to same time last year. Each week, 821,000 people tune into Melbourne’s No. 1 station.

  • 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft continue their dominance of the Melbourne market with a share of 20 (up 0.8) (Mon-Fri 5.30am-8.30am). 
  • Neil Mitchell is the undisputed No. 1 in mornings with a share of 17.4 (Mon-Fri 8.30am-12.00pm).
  • Dee Dee Dunleavy is the No. 1 afternoon talk show with a share of 11.2 (Mon-Fri 12.00pm–3.00pm). 
  • Tom Elliott is Melbourne’s No. 1 talk program in drive with a share of 12.3 (Mon-Fri 3.00pm-6.00pm).
  • Denis Walter has increased his share to 20.5 (up 2.8 points) and is Melbourne’s No.1 evening program.
  • 3AW Weekends is also No. 1 with a share of 12.6.

4BC 882 posts a share of 5.8 among all people 10+. 4BC has also seen a surge in its cumulative audience – up by 15.1% on survey 3 of 2021. Each week, 160,000 people tune into 4BC.

  • Breakfast with Neil Breen recorded a share of 7.5.
  • The Ray Hadley Morning Show achieved a share of 6.9 (Mon-Fri 9.00am-12.00pm).
  • Afternoons with Sofie Formica recorded a share of 4.3 (Mon-Fri 12.00pm–3.00pm).
  • Drive with Scott Emerson posted a 3.0 share (Mon-Fri 3.00pm-6.00pm).
  • Nights with John Stanley had a share of 10.2(Mon-Thurs 8.00pm-12.00MN).

6PR 882 posted a 6.2 share among all people 10+.

  • Breakfast with Gareth Parker achieved a share of 7.8.
  • Mornings with Liam Bartlett recorded a share of 8.3 (up 0.3).
  • Steve Mills in Afternoons posted a share of 5.5 (Mon-Fri 12.00pm-3.00pm).
  • Perth Live with Oliver Peterson had a share of 4.8 (Mon-Thurs 3.00pm-6.00pm Fri 3.00pm-5.30pm). 
  • The Nightshift with Tod Johnston recorded a share of 10.5 (up 1.5) (Mon-Thurs 8.00pm-12.00am Fri 8.30pm-12:00am).
