Highlights available on Monday, September 26, on 9Now
An array of music superstars will unite for The 2022 Global Citizen Festival, a globally televised special concert, and viewers can watch a two-hour highlights special of the event on Monday, September 26, on 9Now.
The Global Citizen Festival, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is an annual event where artists, fans, activists, corporate leaders and world leaders come together for a common goal. This year’s goals include investing in the future of women and girls, closing the climate finance gap, alleviating the global food crisis, and relieving crushing debts, culminating in one collective mission: “End Extreme Poverty NOW”.
Taking over two international stages in famous locations, from New York City’s Central Park, to Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana, the festival will feature some of the world’s best music performers including Metallica, Charlie Puth, Jonas Brothers, MÅNESKIN, Mariah Carey, Usher, SZA, Stormzy, Mickey Guyton, Rosalía, and more. Hosting the milestone event will be actor, producer and Global Citizen ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jones.
The festival is timed to coincide with the UN General Assembly to leverage opportunities to get policy and financial commitments from government, corporate and philanthropic leaders to defeat poverty, demand equity, and defend the planet. Tickets are awarded through points earned by taking action to fight extreme poverty, such as signing petitions, calling your political representatives, participating in challenges, and more.
The 2022 Global Citizen Festival is a global campaign event that everyone, everywhere can get involved in to support the rallying cry to “End Extreme Poverty NOW”. You can sign up on www.globalcitizen.org or download the app to take action today.
