The Sydney Morning Herald’s award-winning photojournalism will be showcased at this year’s Head On Photo Festival. 

The Herald’s Photos 1440, now in its ninth year, will feature the work of staff photographers including Gold Walkley winner Kate Geraghty, Press Gallery Journalist of the Year Alex Ellinghausen, and Nick Moir, who was awarded at the National Geographic Photo Contest.

With a heritage dating back more than 100 years, the Herald’s photography has been documenting the stories, events and moments that have shaped Sydney since the late 1800s.

Mags King, The Sydney Morning Herald’s Managing Photo Editor and curator of the exhibition, said: “From Bondi to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Texas to Auburn, we are passionate about documenting local and international news, the environment, politics, and the people these issues affect.”

This year Photos 1440 will also feature a frame of George Pell from The Age’s Justin McManus and a portrait by Newcastle Herald photographer Max Mason-Hubers.

Photos 1440 will be on display at the Paddington Reservoir Gardens May 4 to 19.

Head On is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and with the support of the City of Sydney, top international photographers, guests and speakers will be in attendance.
