The Financial Review launches ‘Inside Government’ newsletter
The Australian Financial Review will launch a new weekly ‘Inside Government’ newsletter this Friday, November 20, to connect government and business professionals with its extensive coverage of public policy and regulatory change.
Edited by the Financial Review’s Government Editor and Walkley Award winner Tom Burton, ‘Inside Government’ will provide expert analysis of the important government policy and regulatory decisions, initiatives and developments, and how those decisions affect business and the wider community.
Released every Friday and running alongside the Financial Review’s already-strong daily coverage of the public sector, ‘Inside Government’ will be essential reading for government professionals across the country.
Burton has worked in government, specialising in communications, and has held senior editorial roles with The Mandarin, The Sydney Morning Herald and as Canberra bureau chief for the Financial Review.
“Public policy, regulation and the delivery of a vast array of services are all driven by Australia’s 1.2 million public servants and their leaders,” he says. “Through their own businesses and regulation, Australia’s governments heavily influence around fifty per cent of the entire economy. Understanding how government works has never been more important.”
“The newsletter will shed more light on the engine room of government and the public sector, and will present key developments in an intelligent and engaging format for senior public leaders, the large number of professionals who follow government closely and the diaspora of stakeholders and vendors who work with government.”
