The NRL Finals Series reaches fever pitch this weekend, with two games standing between four teams and a place in the 2026 NRL Grand Final, live and free from 7.00pm Friday night on Channel 9HD and 9Now.

The Dolphins, Roosters, Panthers and Knights are preparing for the sudden-death showdowns where they’ll put it all on the line.

The Dolphins will turn a sold-out Suncorp Stadium into a sea of red on Friday night when they take on the Roosters, with Nine’s coverage starting at 7.00pm. After making history by qualifying for their first NRL Finals Series, the Phins have the star weapons to go all the way with the electrifying backs Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Herbie Farnworth and Selwyn Cobbo.

Standing in the way is a Sydney Roosters side chasing another shot at rugby league glory, led by inspirational skipper James Tedesco with Queensland Maroons Origin halfback Sam Walker, set to make a remarkable return from ankle surgery and Mark Nawaqanitawase providing plenty of firepower out wide.

Then on Sunday afternoon, the Minor Premiers, the Penrith Panthers, face the Newcastle Knights at Accor Stadium, with coverage from 2.45pm.

Superstar halfback Nathan Cleary is named to play despite a foot injury, alongside co-captain Isaah Yeo, in a major boost for the Panthers pack. They hold the key to the Panthers charge, along with ever-reliable fullback Dylan Edwards.

After storming into their first preliminary final since 2013 – and chasing their first premiership since 2001 – the Knights are capable of causing an upset, with a battle-hardened forward pack and a lethal backline that includes Kalyn Ponga, Dominic Young and Bradman Best.

In the NRLW Preliminary Finals, the action kicks off on Saturday night when the Minor Premiers, the Roosters, clash with the Raiders at Allianz Stadium from 7.30pm on Channel 9. On Sunday, an all-Queensland showdown sees the Titans take on the Broncos at Cbus Super Stadium from 1.00pm. This blockbuster derby guarantees a Queensland side a coveted place in the Grand Final, while marking a monumental farewell for veteran Broncos playmaker Ali Brigginshaw as she chases her fifth premiership with the club for the last time.

Nine’s Wide World of Sports brings fans every hit, try and defining moment of the 2026 NRL & NRLW Preliminary Finals, backed by insight and analysis from a team of the game’s biggest names.

NRL Hosted by James Bracey and NRLW hosted by Bronte Gildea, features an expert team including Eighth rugby league Immortal, Andrew Johns, premiership winners Brad Fittler, Johnathan Thurston, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Phil Gould, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday and Paul Gallen, alongside Danika Mason, Marlee Silva, and international representatives Allana Ferguson and Ruan Sims.

Calling all the action will be Mathew Thompson, Brenton Speed and Peter Psaltis.

Plus, Melbourne Storm’s Cameron Munster is joining the Friday night broadcast as Nine’s Finals Footy Ambassador.
