Overcoming Fear of Flying and Crafting a Great Beer
Overcoming Fear of Flying and Crafting a Great Beer
In this week’s episode of My Way we are introduced to more Aussie go-getters who are eager to share their stories – Saturday at 12pm on Nine.
Narrator Tim Blackwell introduces viewers to a Queenslander who faced his fear of flying in the most unconventional way. At the age of 28, Stephen Limkin contracted a brain virus called meningoencephalitis. The near-death experience left him traumatised, which manifested in a sudden fear of flying. Refusing to let the fear defeat him, Stephen took matters into his own hands and is now a qualified pilot and a qualified instructor, helping others to overcome similar fears.
Josh Wilkinson is a professional artist who at combines technology and sounds in unique and creative ways. His most impressive works were recently unveiled at the Vivid Festival: a series of giant interactive, light installation harps. We meet Josh as he prepares the sculptures for Curiocity Brisbane.
We also meet Nicole Rowles who is an advocate for work-life balance. As the Nine News regional weather presenter, Nicole is no stranger to the glitz and glam of the makeup chair. But she leaves behind the television studio’s bright lights to climb the most arduous, gritty rock faces she can find. For Nicole, it’s all about putting her physical and mental limits to the test.
Over a beer – while talking about beer – a recipe for a beer, the Eggnog Stout, motivated three Gold Coast mates, Dan Norris, Eddie Oldfield and Michael “Govs” McGovern, to brew their own craft beer. While sharing everything they learnt along the way with their supportive and passionate community base, Eggnog Stout set the wheels in motion for Black Hops, now one of the most successful and awarded craft breweries in Australia.
