Time’s ticking to finals frenzy
NRL on Nine this week brings viewers an action-packed Round 26 as the clock ticks down to the finals, live and free on the 9Network.
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTY: COWBOYS V STORM
FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY: RABBITOHS V PANTHERS
SUNDAY ARVO FOOTY: ROOSTERS V RAIDERS
In Thursday Night Footy, the Melbourne Storm, already minor premiers, meet the Cowboys in Townsville. Coach Craig Bellamy has rested a stack of key players but will still field a formidable team led by superstars Cameron Munster and Ryan Papenhuyzen. For the playoff-bound Cowboys, prolific tryscorer Kyle Feldt makes his last home-ground appearance and Valentine Holmes marks his 200th NRL game.
Friday Night Footy pits the triple premiers, the Panthers, against the struggling Rabbitohs. With Nathan Cleary still out through injury, Jarome Luai and Brad Schneider will lead the Panthers attack. Cody Walker, just two tries short of his 100th, returns to partner Jack Wighton in the halves for the Rabbitohs.
Wide World of Sports will be live for this game from Bluebet Stadium, led by Danika Mason alongside Allana Ferguson, with comments from Johnathan Thurston, Phil Gould and Andrew Johns. Mat Thompson will call the game, while Emma Lawrence and Brad Fittler provide sideline updates.
Saturday Night Footy sees the razor-toothed Sharks set to strengthen their top-four position against the Warriors. It’s the final game for Warriors legend Shaun Johnson, while Sharks skipper Cameron McInnes celebrates his 200th NRL appearance.
Round 26 wraps up with Sunday Arvo Footy at Allianz Stadium, crunch time for the Raiders who must beat the Roosters to stay alive in the finals race. The Raiders need the power game of prop Joseph Tapine and the kicking game of halfback Jamal Fogarty to offset a red-hot Rosters attack bolstered by the return of Connor Watson and Brandon Smith.
