Nine’s premium podcasts deliver largest monthly audience
Last month, the Nine Podcast Network posted its largest ever monthly Audience with over 1.8 million listeners in June 2023, topping the previous monthly high in May 2023 with an additional 160,000 listeners.
Australia’s leading investigative podcast, the Kennedy Award nominated Hannah’s Story, continues to resonate with listeners, jumping 30 spots to #15 most listened to Australian podcast in June 2023 podcast ranker. As confronting as this story is, listeners have tuned in to hear more about coercive control – from the relationship, to the crime, through to the coronial inquest examining the events that lead up to the shocking and heartbreaking story of the murder of Hannah Clarke and her three young children.
Nine Radio’s catch up podcast continues to prove that on-demand is in-demand with over 820,000 listeners in June 2023, a 35% increase on the same period last year, as listeners tune into their favourite radio show where and when they choose. 2GB’s Ben Fordham Live podcast, jumped up 18 placed to #18 on June 2023’s Podcast ranker, with over 200,000 monthly listeners tuning in for their daily dose of agenda setting news and opinion. 3AW’s Drive with Tom Elliott podcast continues to steadily grow its audience, with over 75,000 listeners, up 68% YoY.
Nine’s original podcast slate continues to inform and inspire Australians, with premium, engaging and thought-provoking podcasts. The diverse brands, platforms and content across Nine continue to embrace the power of storytelling, with three exciting new podcasts launching this month.
As the home of the NRLW, Nine’s commitment to growing the 2023 season includes a brand new weekly podcast, NRLW Weekly, hosted dual international, Ruan Sims and one of the leading voices on women’s sport, Marlee Silva. NRLW Weekly brings fans the latest updates, insights, and exclusive interviews from the electrifying world of the National Rugby League Women’s competition
Sarah-Jane Calleja and Rachel Carr quickly became fan favourites on The Block last year, with their quick wit, trademark humour and raw authenticity. They bring that same electric dynamic to their brand new podcast I Just Can’t as they discuss the rollercoaster of life – marriage, motherhood, melodramatic TV, nothing is off limits. Raw yet ruthless, vulnerable and sometimes a little vulgar, nothing is too ‘taboo’ for these two as they’ll have you switching between heartfelt tears to laughter-induced bellyaches in the blink of an eye.
With a career spanning four decades, WAtoday journalist, morning presenter on 6PR’s and four-time Western Australian Journalist of the Year, Gary Adshead has stood on the frontlines of journalism, tackling a vast array of Western Australia’s most notorious stories, from murder investigations and national espionage to heroic rescues and missing person cases. In the gripping new podcast The Reporter Gary will take listeners behind the headlines, offering a unique glimpse into the life of a reporter.
Nine’s Head of Podcasts, Mia Stern, said: “It’s been fantastic to see our podcast audience hit new milestones each and every month as we focus on scaling a curated content slate of premium, local Australian podcasts. The intimate relationship between the host and the listener delivers an unrivalled opportunity for marketers to build a powerful connection with future customers.”
