Nine News Central West
From Monday, February 20, Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) in conjunction with its affiliate partner, the Nine Network, will broadcast a dedicated Nine News Central West bulletin to Orange, Dubbo and the entire Central West region of NSW.
As part of one of the largest expansions of news operations in Australian history, the one-hour bulletins, presented by Vanessa O’Hanlon, will compile local stories, dedicated local sport and weather reports, together with the very best in national and international coverage that viewers have come to expect from Nine News.
A team of dedicated reporters, living and working in the region, will bring viewers of Nine News Central West comprehensive reporting on issues that matter most to them, while reflecting their lives and the communities they live in.
Whether it’s covering local sport including Group Ten and Eleven rugby league matches or Central West Rugby, reporting on local politics and council issues, keeping up with the latest baby news from the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, or bringing you all the colour from local festivals, the Nine News Central West team will shine a spotlight on Orange, Dubbo and surrounding areas.
The announcement comes on the same day that SCA and Nine launch the first of 15 new bulletins, with Nine News Canberra making its debut tonight at 6.00pm to the nation’s capital.
Grant Blackley, Chief Executive Officer of SCA, said: “Today is a momentous day for regional Australia as we premiere the first of our 15 news bulletins. And in two weeks’ time, the Central West will get the news service they deserve when we bring their very best local stories to air. We are investing in local communities by creating jobs and providing our clients with new ways to reach their customers.”
Mike Dalton, Director of Regional News for the Nine Network, said: “Tonight we launch the biggest expansion in regional news reporting this country has ever seen. This operation has been many months in the making and we can’t wait to bring these local stories to air. From February 20, viewers throughout Dubbo and Orange will also be able to experience the trust and credibility for which Nine News is renowned.”
