My Room Telethon Continues to Break Records Raising Over $6 Million for Childhood Cancer
The Footy Show Grand Final: My Room Telethon together with other My Room fundraising initiatives throughout the year, continues to break records every year raising a total of $6,148,496 for children and families fighting childhood cancer.
On Thursday night, host Eddie McGuire, joined by 9News Melbourne anchor Alicia Loxley, 9News Melbourne reporter Nat Yoannidis and members of the AFL Sunday Footy Show team Nathan Brown and Matthew Lloyd combined for an evening packed with footy and entertainment to raise money for a great cause.
The My Room Telethon on Nine has now raised more than $31 million in donations over the past 11 years. Funds raised through this year’s Telethon will help ensure children with cancer and their families receive the care, comfort and support they need — from financial assistance to specialised clinical care. They’ll also drive pioneering research and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure and giving every child the best possible chance at a brighter future.
Special guests and My Room ambassadors dropped in throughout the night, including 2026 Brownlow medalist Nick Daicos, Brisbane Lions captain Harris Andrews ahead of the Grand Final, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and Melbourne Demons captain Max Gawn.
Plus, there were plenty of familiar AFL faces that showed their support from theProbe Phone Room including Essendon’s Andrew McGrath, Hawthorn’s Massimo D’Ambrosio, Will Day and Lloyd Meek, Melbourne’s Brody Mihocek, Richmond’s Jacob Hopper, Adelaide’s Riley Thilthorpe, NRL Melbourne Storm’s Xavier Coates and Australian comedy troupe Sooshi Mango.
Maurizio Marcocci, Chairman, and Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, thanked everyone for their support in a joint statement.
They said:
“We are constantly humbled by the compassion of our community, and this year is no exception. Through the overwhelming success of the Footy Show Grand Final: My Room Telethon and our collective efforts throughout the year, we have raised $6,148,496 to support children and young adults fighting cancer.
