More Than Eight Million Viewers Tune Into The First Test
A total of 8,292,552 Australians tuned in throughout the five days of Nine’s broadcast of the First Ashes Test between Australia and England.
Across the five metropolitan capital cities, the cumulative reach across the five days (ie: the total number of individuals who watched any part of any day’s play) was 5.921 million, representing 35 per cent of the metropolitan population.
In regional Australia, the cumulative reach across the five days was 2.371 million, representing 31 per cent of the regional population.
In total, more than one in three Australians tuned into the Magellan Ashes First Test, which the Aussies wrapped up yesterday with a ten-wicket win in Brisbane.
The highest rating session across the five days of play at the Gabba was the third session on Day Four (Sunday, November 26), which secured a peak audience of 2.271 million viewers, with an average of 1.778 million viewers.
Each of the third sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.361 million across the four sessions (Thursday to Sunday).
Each of the second sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 1.047 million across the four sessions (Thursday to Sunday).
Each of the first sessions of play achieved an average national audience of 785,000 across the five sessions (Thursday to Monday).
