Future Women’s ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ podcast named as a finalist in the 15th Annual Shorty Awards
Future Women’s groundbreaking podcast, ‘There’s No Place Like Home‘ is a finalist in the 15th Annual Shorty Awards, an international competition honouring outstanding work in digital and social media.
There’s No Place Like Home is a ten-part series, created in collaboration with Commonwealth Bank Next Chapter, that reveals the true scourge of domestic and family violence in Australia.
The podcast sensitively interweaves the shocking true stories of domestic and family violence survivors, with expert commentary and evidence. It has been awarded locally at the 2022 Mumbrella Publish Awards.
Future Women’s Founder and Managing Director Helen McCabe said being shortlisted is a testament to the importance and impact of victim-survivors telling their own stories, in their own words.
“In the last two years Australia has had its own reckoning about sexual assault, abuse and domestic violence. This recognition shows the value of centring victim-survivors in these conversations not just in Australia, but on the global stage.”
Future Women’s Deputy Managing Director, Jamila Rizvi, said it was a privilege to work alongside the experts in the family violence sector.“One woman is killed by a partner or former partner, every week, in Australia. The people who work every day to prevent and respond to family violence, are tireless in their pursuit of a change in these shocking statistics.”
To create There’s No Place Like Home, Future Women has collaborated with Commonwealth Bank, which is supporting long-term financial independence for victim-survivors of financial abuse through CommBank Next Chapter.
Season two, which is now in production, will launch in June 2023.
