State of Origin – The Decider is building as the biggest game of rugby league ever, and today Nine announced a special broadcast to spotlight this amazing event. 

From 7.00pm on Wednesday, July 12, Wide World of Sports will produce a special one-hour pre-match show live from Suncorp Stadium – the spiritual home of State of Origin. 

Exclusively LIVE and FREE from 7.00pm on Nine, The Decider will give the audience unprecedented access to the players and coaches with expert analysis from rugby league Immortals Andrew “Joey” Johns and Wally “The King” Lewis, along with Origin legends Peter Sterling, Paul Vautin, Darren Lockyer, Brad Fittler and Phil Gould. 

Speaking on the announcement, Nine’s Director of Sport, Tom Malone, said: “The build-up to The Decider will be incredible. There are so many angles and stories to tell that we’ll struggle to get it all in – even with the extra half-hour.”

Nine’s Head of NRL, Ben Clark, said: “There’ll be a special tribute to Johnathan Thurston, and who knows how many of the Queensland champions are playing their last Origin? Is this the last chance to see them? Will NSW be able to beat them? Or will the great Queensland dynasty finish on top?”

Nine’s Director of Sports Sales, Sam Brennan, said: “Origin I and II were commercial sellouts. With The Decider looming as the biggest game of rugby league ever, it means there’ll be huge interest from brands to get involved in this unique opportunity.”
