Powered Studios Case Study: Mastercard
Aces, the bright lights of centre court and Grand Slams are not just what the tennis is about – it also makes people happier, healthier, and brings them together.
This underlying insight was the driver behind Powered Studios’ work with Mastercard as part of its partnership with Nine’s 2019 Australian Open coverage.
Tennis is a great way for Australians to come together and Powered Studios tapped into their community stories to create a three-part content series called “Local Connections”.
Each episode – seen across Nine’s Australian Open broadcast, Wide World of Sports digital platforms and on social assets – focused on a story from a different tennis community, showcasing how tennis brings people together.
“Local Connections” introduced viewers to The Early Birds, a group in their 60s who have been playing twice a week for over 25 years.
We also met Rob, a junior who turned professional and now spends his time giving something back to the club where it all began. And in the third episode we met a group of neighbours who knocked down their fences, all in the name of starting a rally.
“Local Connections” explored the stories and connections in different tennis communities, highlighting how tennis is a sport that is accessible for all Australians.
